Petition: Congress must stand firm

The president vetoed a plan to start bringing our troops home from Iraq this year. It's outrageous and it's not clear how Congress will respond. We expect them to stand strong.

"We demand that Congress stand firm against the veto, and include a deadline to end the war in the bill it sends back to the president. No more blank checks for war."

A compiled petition with your individual comment will be presented to your senators and representative when you click the button below.

YOUR COMMENT TO CONGRESS

TO: Your Representative
CC: (Your Senators)
FROM: (Your Name and Email)
SUBJECT: Stand firm on a deadline to end the war
__________

Dear Representative,

(Your personal note)

I urge you to stand firm against the president's veto of the Iraq Accountability Act. The bill you send back to the president must include a deadline to end the war. Now is the time to keep the pressure on--not to buckle. The overwhelming majority of Americans support a deadline to end the war--and military experts agree. We must bring our troops home from the mess in Iraq.

Petitions and Surveys

For petitions and surveys you've signed or completed, we treat your name, city, state, and comments as public information - for example, we may provide compilations of petitions, with your comments, to the President and legislators, other targets, or to the press. We will not make your street address publicly available, but we may transmit it to members of Congress and to the President as part of a petition. This is a standard industry practice in such situations. In no such case will we disclose your email address or phone number without your permission. We may also make your comments, along with your first name, city, and state available to the press and public online.

Under circumstances where we determine that members may be misusing our systems for malicious purposes (for example, using the numbers we provide to make harassing phone calls), such activities may be reported to law enforcement agencies. In such cases, MoveOn may release personally identifiable information, including name and address, to those agencies.
