Election Day Volunteering

On November 2nd, in swing states across the country, MoveOn members will be working from dawn to dusk to make sure the 650,000 Kerry voters we’ve identified get to the polls. We need your help to knock on doors, make sure the people we’re targeting get to the polls, and cross them off our lists once they vote. Members of the team will also keep an eye out for any efforts to intimidate or suppress voters.

Please let us know when and where you can help by filling out the form below. We’ll immediately send you an email containing everything you need to know – precisely where to go, and who to contact if you have any questions.

If it’s possible, we need your help all day – from 7am to 8pm. If you can’t do that, the next-best shift is from 4pm to 8pm. That’s because the volunteers who have been working since 6 in the morning will be flagging, and we’ll have to scramble to turn out all of the targeted folks who haven’t voted yet. But if you can make any time to help out tomorrow, we can use it.

Privacy Policy

We do not share the information you’ve given us with unaffiliated groups without your explicit permission.

Petitions and Surveys

For petitions and surveys you've signed or completed, we treat your name, city, state, and comments as public information - for example, we may provide compilations of petitions, with your comments, to the President and legislators, other targets, or to the press. We will not make your street address publicly available, but we may transmit it to members of Congress and to the President as part of a petition. This is a standard industry practice in such situations. In no such case will we disclose your email address or phone number without your permission. We may also make your comments, along with your first name, city and state available to the press and public online.

Under circumstances where we determine that members may be misusing our systems for malicious purposes (for example, using the numbers we provide to make harassing phone calls), such activities may be reported to law enforcement agencies. In such cases, MoveOn may release personally identifiable information, including name and address, to those agencies.

Sending Emails Via MoveOn.org Political Action

In certain cases, we enable you to send individual e-mails to the President, legislators, and other targets as well as Letters-to-the-Editor to various news publications, through our website. These messages are sent in your name, with your e-mail address as the return address and your full name and contact information is provided as part of the submission. These messages will only be sent out under your name as you approve them on an individual basis using our email tool. You are solely responsible for the specific message(s) you send using our email tool.
