Join Senator Robert Byrd, MoveOn staff and hundreds of local citizens determined to stand up to Bush's plan to stack the courts. The Republicans are hoping to smash Democratic resistance to their hard-right, corporate friendly judges using a parliamentary trick so outrageous they call it the "nuclear option". If they get away with it, centuries of rules and tradition that have required federal judges to get broad support will be gone overnight. Then Bush will be able to stack the federal bench all the way up to the Supreme Court (which will have as many as 4 vacancies in the next 4 years) with corporate leaning judges who will roll back our rights for decades to come.
This Wednesday, March 16th we're fighting back. Thousands of neighborhood activists around the country are organizing a national call in day to defeat the "nuclear option". And we here in the DC area can deliver a direct, powerful blow to Bush's plan by going to this rally and putting the media, the Senate and their staff on notice that George Bush, Dick Cheney and Bill Frist simply cannot get away with undermining our democracy and stacking the courts.
