Speak Out Against Republican Funding Cuts

Ellis County Courthouse Lawn, 13th & Fort

13th & Fort on the front lawn of Ellis County Courthouse in downtown
16 Nov 12:00 PM

On November 16th, we will gather together in Hays to emphasize to Senator Roberts, Congressman Moran and other US legislators that we are emphatically opposed to the budget cuts being proposed that will reduce student loans, Medicaid, food stamps and other vital services for Kansan families. College loan programs are critical to Kansas families hoping to provide college educations for their children. Already too many Kansas families are struggling to keep food on the table and provide the most basic medical care for their children. Already 45 million Americans, or 15 out of every 100 Kansans, are without healthcare. These cuts will also effect our seniors, many of whom depend upon Medicaid to supplement Medicare coverage. The budget cuts proposed by the US House of Representatives will increase hardship directly to the least advantaged of our neighbors, at a time when the huge oil companies and defense contractors are enjoying record profits. This "reverse Robin Hood" approach takes money and services from the poor and gives it to the richest. We wish to stop this inequity and speak out for those among us that are least able to speak out for themselves - our poorest and least advantaged neighbors.
