Message from your host, Scott M.: This is the 5th anniversary of the war and subsequent occupation of Iraq, and the economic blowback is now being felt. 4000 Americans have lost their lives and for what? Wolfowitz said Iraqi oil was going to pay for it, but now gas is climbing to $4 a gallon, we have home foreclosures, and the dollar is falling like a stone. Despite that, John McCain wants to stay there for 100 years, and says there will be "more wars". Our country and our military cannot afford 4 more years of Republican imperialism. Iraq has somehow become a non-issue in this campaign, so we need to push the Democratic candidates to re-introduce the issue of ending the occupation, because that is our best defense against McCain's hawkish ideology. This is a solemn candlelight vigil.
