Message from your host, Carole L.: At the end of 2011, Big Banks doled out $156 billion—yes, BILLION!—in bonuses and had foreclosed on over 350,000 homes. Wall Street banks must be held fully accountable for the damage they've caused, including a full investigation into bank practices during the housing crisis and appropriate compens...(more)ation for homeowners who've suffered because of the banks' malpractice.
The president has the power to order this today and start the year with a real win for the 99% movement. The negotiations between the state attorneys general and the White House have been happening mostly away from the public eye. So it's up to us to make sure the president hears loud, clear, and right away that progressives are counting on him to keep taking bold action.
That's why on January 19—a week before his State of the Union address—we'll gather at Obama for America offices in all 50 states for "Yes He Can!" events. We'll let the president know that we have his back—so that he can stand strong and make sure Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Chase, and other Big Banks are held accountable. This is our chance to get concrete improvements for the 99%. Can you help make it happen?
