Virtual March to End the Genocide in Darfur

Sunday's march was a huge success. We're still collecting names for the virtual march, to add to the final delivery this week.

The ongoing genocide in Darfur has already claimed over 400,000 lives. On Sunday, tens of thousands of concerned Americans gathered at the Save Darfur rally in Washington DC to demand that Congress and President Bush call for a real United Nations peacekeeping force to protect civilians and stop the genocide -- now.

Far from another Iraq, this actual humanitarian intervention would stop, not cause, sectarian violence, and would rely on US support but not new soldiers -- key to avoiding an anti-western backlash.

To support this urgent call, we're launching a national "virtual march". To join, just sign your name below.

We'll present the total number of signers and comments to Congress, the President and the national media at the rally in Washington. If we can sign up 100,000 virtual marchers this week, our voices will combine with thousands of others in the "Million Voices for Darfur" campaign organized by the Save Darfur Coalition and give our leaders a powerful mandate to act.

By joining the "virtual march" we're affirming this simple statement:

Congress and President Bush must support an international force to protect the civilians of Darfur and end the genocide -- now.

Petitions and Surveys

For petitions and surveys you've signed or completed, we treat your name, city, state, and comments as public information - for example, we may provide compilations of petitions, with your comments, to the President and legislators, other targets, or to the press. We will not make your street address publicly available, but we may transmit it to members of Congress and to the President as part of a petition. This is a standard industry practice in such situations. In no such case will we disclose your email address or phone number without your permission. We may also make your comments, along with your first name, city, and state available to the press and public online.

Under circumstances where we determine that members may be misusing our systems for malicious purposes (for example, using the numbers we provide to make harassing phone calls), such activities may be reported to law enforcement agencies. In such cases, MoveOn may release personally identifiable information, including name and address, to those agencies.
