When I called I got an automated message of Senator Bob Casey's voice. I asked him to do everything within his power to stop any cuts to social security. I am a widow and will begin receiving my late husbands' benefits beginning February 2013. I hit #2 on my keypad and they said my message was sent. Let' stick together and continue this fight. Thank you, Doris J. Harris

— Schnecksville, 2012-12-18 07:33:22

I called and left a message that I voted for Sen. Casey, contributed to him and worked for him. I told him that Social Security does not contribute anything to the debt so it should not be any part of the fiscal cliff negotiations.

— Nanticoke, 2012-12-18 07:48:25

I got only the opportunity for the message, as "no one was available" Told him that as a 50 year Registered Republican, I strongly support stopping cuts to SSI and Medicare. I might support some extention to the limit on contributions, but I depend on SSI.

— Pittsburgh, 2012-12-18 07:59:38

Please do not allow the Republicans to touch Social Security in the deal to avoid the Fiscal Cliff.

— Finleyville, 2012-12-18 08:03:23

Same experience as noted below with exception that my husband and I could survive this, but there are too many others who could not. Pres. Obama promised not to solve fiscal problems on the backs of the middle and lower classes. We must hold him to this promise.

— Lititz, 2012-12-18 08:03:57

— Coatesville, 2012-12-18 08:30:04

I left a voice mail. I told Senator Casey that as a volunteer in his campaign I had made phone calls for him, stressing the point that we needed Senator Casey in the Senate to help protect SS Medicare and Medicade. Now we count on him to not give in to these crazy Republicans.

— McKees Rocks, 2012-12-18 08:32:25

Dais at 73' still working, cannot live on 837.00 please do not cut SS more....

— Level green, 2012-12-18 08:34:54

Sen. Casey's office had a recording which asked that the caller to leave a message about the issue. I did so, specifically stating the cost of living increase rate should not be messed with. In fact, because necessities of life such as food and health care are rising faster than other goods, the rate should actually be increased.

Social Security is the people's savings account. Please respect private property. You know where or whom to tax --those who use the system to their maximum advantage and profit. You might also consider outlawing all guns or, beginning with the second gun, taxing them one thousand per cent as special and dangerous privilege. Thank you.

I left a message on Senator Casey's voice mail, telling him that Social Security does not affect the federal budget and is supported by the payroll tax. If there were a problem, lifting the current $106,800 ceiling on wages eligible for social security taxes would solve the problem for many years. Right now, a rich person with wages above that amount pays the same social security tax as someone making $110,800.

Please do not cut Social Security & Medicare Benefits. It will make it much harder for the elderly to make ends meet. There are so many that already have to get food from food banks and live in subsidized housing. The Pres. said that he would not cut Social Security & Medicare. That is the platform that Pres. Obama ran on. Please don't disappoint every volunteer that worked to tirelessly to get him re elected.

— Connellsville, 2012-12-18 09:30:21

I left a Lengthy msg about not compromising on this deal to the detriment of the citizens of the USA, and that at 55 yo, I will feel those effects in just a short period of time.I also said that we didn't reelect he, Pres.Obama, and other Dems to another term to backpedal on these and other pertinent issues !!!!!

— Philadelphia, 2012-12-18 09:31:18

I am moving to PA in the spring, so I will be Casey's constituent. It's time for the banksters and the mega-wealthy to pay for the mess THEY MADE.

— Jonah, 2012-12-18 09:32:09

— Pittsburgh, 2012-12-18 09:34:06

my second reply to you. After calling and letting a message for senator Casey i decided to be more persistent and i wrote an email urging him to vote to protect social security.I emphasized the health insurance and food prices increase.his own generous benefits paid by the people and not to hesitate and vote to protect SS and the people who voted for him

I left message that we voted for taxes to be raised on rich not to cut social security

— Pittsburgh, 2012-12-18 10:30:47

I visited Sen. Casey's office on Friday 12/14 with a group from CREDO action and his regional director told us he was very firm in defense of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. We repeated that Social Security should never be part of the budget talks. Better the so-called "fiscal cliff" than this! The fiscal agreement safeguards the safety net and cuts defense! Tax cuts would be rapidly reestablished for the 98%.

— Philadelphia, 2012-12-18 10:33:37

Recorded all Moveon talking points on his DC-office voice mail, but added: I live on Social Security, alone, after pouring my Life Savings into my business, which went down in the DotCom Bubble; I do NOT want to see Obama cave in to Republicans, again, as he did before, because Social Security did not cause our Debt Problem -- Bush's unfunded taxcuts for the Rich, 2 wars, and Medicare D caused our Debt Problem. SO, also go for the FULL Clinton tax rate and threshhold ($250,000) for the Rich.

— Kennett Square, 2012-12-18 10:36:49

Had to leave a message. I really hope we can stop this deal. We are regretting standing in line to re-elect the president. Why would you cave in when public opinion is so firmly on your side?

— Hollidaysburg, 2012-12-18 10:36:55

Left message on his tape stating that it is unacceptable to cut any social security payments. I recommended instead to drop the payroll limit and have all people pay on ALL payroll and not have it cut off for those making more than $110,000. We have to pay on our entire income for the year so make everyone pay on their entire income.

— springfield, 2012-12-18 10:41:42

I'm hoping that you Sen. Casey and the Democratic party will stand strong along with President Obama whom I STRONGLY campaigned for in this last election will not sell out to us seniors in agreeing to any Social Security benefit cuts just to appease the Republican Congress in these important Budget negotiations going on in Washington right now . Stand by those of us who voted for you all in keeping your word on leaving Social Security alone . There are many areas to cut back on spending I'm sure without touching our Social Security incomes which we worked our whole lives for our senior living . Thank you for listening.

— pittsburgh, 2012-12-18 10:59:45

If we require cuts in Social Security to attain approval on raising taxation for the corporations & the wealthy...Pls consider reucing or eleminating SSecurity & Medicare for our wealthiest citizens. Those of us who are dependent upon both benefits to merely survive, should not be penalized. The so-called job - makers have yet to do so instead of outrageous bonuses, jobbing out of country, etc. If the wealthiest of our peoples are such lovers of our country, they may pay more to give every child & adults the opportunity to achieve to their best ability and allow our nation to benefit from their productivity, regardless of their current , forced environment. Why do we not make laws that move the concepts of our forefathers forward to the 21st century...We are an embarrassment to all other industrialized nations. Thank younfor using your powers to make this country better for all,

— Wynnewood, 2012-12-18 11:11:34

Senator Casey~ Please don't make cuts to SS, my elderly parents and aunts cannot afford it. It needs to stay in place for the future. We've contributed all our working lives--it's not fair the Republicans continue to make this an issue. We're not rich like they are....

— Fairless Hills, 2012-12-18 11:13:02

— pittsburgh, 2012-12-18 11:17:24

I voted democratic in part because Biden promised no change to SS and Obama promised to revert to Clinton era tax rates on incomes above $250K. Those were pretty straightforward promises, and I left a msg to that effect on Mr. Casey's line.

Left message begging Sen Casey not to turn against the people, reminding him that we all know that SS has nothing to do with the National Debt, pleading that he not align himself with the corporate, capitalist, privatiztion, mongers who are bought off by the rich movers and shakers who own and operate all of us. I told him that I and millions of Americans are counting on him and other clear minded and moral senators to do the right thing. Don't touch social Security. PJ Frederick/Hollidaysburg, PA

Told him I was retired and that cutting benefits was not right.

— Philadelphia, 2012-12-18 12:05:58

Please don't let SocSec be chiseled away for the benefit of those that don't pay their fair share.

— Reading, 2012-12-18 12:07:58

When I called I also received an automated message of Senator Bob Casey's voice. I told him to do everything within his power to stop any cuts to social security or medicare. Obama and the Democrats won the election and they should do what they campaigned on -- raising taxes on the wealthiest 2% back to the Clinton era rates and protecting Social Security and Medicare

— Ambler, 2012-12-18 12:09:59

I got an automated message. I asked Senator Casey to do everyting in his power to oppose cuts to Social Security.

— Harrisburg,, 2012-12-18 12:15:40

just had to leave a message and said that the people voted for democrats because of what you told us during the election. Don't go back on your word now! We backed you now its your turn and all democrats to put our vote in action!

— Uniontown, 2012-12-18 12:20:12

I left a message w/ Sen. Casey stating that if this deal can get done with only a 5% reduction in SS benefits then he shoudl be all for that. WE NEED to balancethe budget asap. Reductions in programs like Social Security are prime places to make this happen. The days of unlimited social programs are over. The government should not be in the business of retirement benefits.

— , 2012-12-18 12:20:23

Was told too many calls to talk to staff, so left message to protect "entitlements.:

— Paoli, 2012-12-18 12:20:38

Staff member will pass along request to protect SS.

— Factoryville, 2012-12-18 12:22:51

I vote every time there is an election as of now I quit I'm getting tired of losing to the politicions I help put in none of them are worthwhile and I had enough the rich get richer and that is all the care about

— , 2012-12-18 12:24:07

I got the voice mail

— Hermitage, 2012-12-18 12:27:42

I left a message for the Senator. I am only in my 20s, but my godmother depends on SS to live: for rent, for groceries. I told him that SS has nothing to do with the deficit and to talk about it in that context was ridiculous. I have confidence that Senator Casey will stand up for us.

— Columbus, 2012-12-18 12:28:31

A member of Sen. Casey's staff told me that "he doesn't want to see Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid cut," but gave no indication that the Senator would fight against it. Very disappointing!

— Volant, 2012-12-18 12:28:46

Left message. I never get a live person when I call him.

— , 2012-12-18 12:29:31

I rec'd automated message. Implored Sen. Casey to stop cuts to Soc. Sec. Susan Lavelle, So. Abington Twp, PA 18411

— Reading, 2012-12-18 12:32:21

All I talked to was their voice mail. My message was -- leave SS alone. It's not broke don't fix it.

— , 2012-12-18 12:34:55

Left a message

— Philadelphia, 2012-12-18 12:37:46

Leave Social Security alone. There has been enough congressional hands in this pie, and its time to put the money back, where it belongs.

— Newville, 2012-12-18 12:40:06

I spoke with a representative and I also left "urgent" message. The rep stated that Sen. Casey would probably not back any cuts to social security. I said that if he voted to do that, we would never support him again.

— newtown, 2012-12-18 12:41:08

Message in on his office VM.

— Mckeesport, 2012-12-18 12:41:47

Automated message only. How could COLA be cut as they are almost nonexistant now.

— schuylkill haven, 2012-12-18 12:42:12

I intend to call again and ask to speak to someone. Helen

— Bethlehem, 2012-12-18 12:44:08

I told Sen. Casey that I didn't canvas, call, and donate what little money I had to the Democratic Party during this last election so that seniors, especially poor seniors, could be sacrificed on the altar of greed.

— Philadelphia, 2012-12-18 12:45:02

The top 2 percent need to pay their share of taxes medicare and social security should not be on the table

— Dillsburg, 2012-12-18 12:45:09

— Monaca, 2012-12-18 12:46:33

all you ever get is an answering machine

— Dunbar, 2012-12-18 12:47:07

I left a message stating that he should do all in his power to leave SS untouched. It is not an entitlement it is earned income as I have paid into it for more that 30 years. Medicare should have only minor adjustments made to it.

— Elkins Park, 2012-12-18 12:47:29

Only got a voicemail. Left message with Casey re not allowing Chaining of CPI for Social Security. Emailed President Obama too-phone was busy.

— Williamsport, 2012-12-18 12:49:32

I told Senator Casey I did not agree with any cuts to Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid and that the method for calculating the cost of living increase for Social Security should not be changed.

— Berwyn, 2012-12-18 12:50:02

I left a 30 second message stating that SS does not need to be cut in any way since SS is not parrt of the problem.

— Lincoln University, 2012-12-18 12:52:02

I couldn't get through to a member of his staff because of high call volume, and then the mailbox was full, so I couldn't leave a message either. I then called back and left a message in another mailbox.

— Warrendale, 2012-12-18 12:53:05

Both mailboxes were full so I left a message asking him to oppose any discussion of cuts to SS. I have no problem with elevating the eligibility age but cutting benefits to people who are already on a fixed income is nuts.

— Sciota, 2012-12-18 12:55:09

I just left a message to his recorder. Told him i am a 90-year old vet of WWII in which I served mostly overseas, including combat duty against Nazi Germany. I spent my working career as an electrical engineer. My wife, also retired, was a Special Education Teacher. Cutting or privatizing Social Security would hurt us severely.

— State College, 2012-12-18 12:55:21

I also called Ron Johnson's office. A Republican, but I'm still his constituent. Pleaded that he not cut the deal that would cut into Social Security. I was assured he would receive my message.

— New Holstein, 2012-12-18 12:55:45

— Las Vegas, 2012-12-18 12:56:20

As another caller said, I voted for Senator Casey, contributed and ask that he do everything in his power to stop this deal if it includes cuts to SS

— Phila, 2012-12-18 12:57:33

I urged the Senator to stand against any cuts to SS, Medicare or Medicaid. I said we need increases and to cut military (death) spending to support these life-easing programs.

— Susquehanna, 2012-12-18 13:01:03

I left a message asking him to vote to stop all social security cuts. Also for any that votes for it to live on what we do.

— , 2012-12-18 13:01:27

Of all the programs in need of revamping or out-right restructuring, your targeting those that most of our elderly citizens depend on. Why don't you all take a cut in your benefits for a change. I ,for one, am tired of paying for the extravegant medical coverage that you millionaire politicians enjoy, while I can't afford a visit to the ER, or a routine check-up. I think you all should pay for your own medical coverage; its not like you can't afford it.

— Lords Valley, 2012-12-18 13:01:59

Of course I had to leave a message! I told the Senator that I collect SS and need the benefits. I worked for 30 years and now depend on what I paid in. I told him I support him and am proud of what he's done for PA. I wished him a Merry Christmas!

— Lititz, 2012-12-18 13:02:22

I left a message. I didn't speak to anyone in the office!

— Easton, 2012-12-18 13:03:08

I left the message that after 32 years in teaching my pension is still not enough to cover my monthly bills. On Jan. 5th I will now 62, & I am expecting my first SS check in March. Even then I will need to be frugal with my money to avoid having to work, as I do now to supplement my pension. Obviously a cut to the benefits I have been promised for faithfully & enthusiastically serving our young would be nothing less than a bold-faced LIE! Shame on any legislator for ever entertaining such a proposal.

— Hollidaysburg, 2012-12-18 13:03:37

only automated voice, but I was able to make the point about cuts to Social Security.

— Bryn Mawr, 2012-12-18 13:04:35

I asked Senator Casey to vote against the cuts to Social Security. Also I asked him to make cuts to the 2% who can afford it.

— Glenolden, 2012-12-18 13:05:06

Staff member stated the Senator supports cutting SS.

— phila, 2012-12-18 13:05:21

Left message to prevent any changes to social security, medicare or medicaid on the Senator's automated service.

— Williamsport, 2012-12-18 13:08:42

I reached a voicemail and said I hope I can count on you to do everything in your power to stop cuts to SS and Medicare. I left my name, location, phone number.

— Chester, 2012-12-18 13:08:59

Called his office and of course, had to leave a message. I asked him to do everything in his power to stop this deal if it includes any cuts to social security benefits. I hope he's listening!!

— West Chester, 2012-12-18 13:10:59

I left message asking him not to cut S.S because it is solvent now and will be for about 20 years and that there is no reason to cut it

— Hermitage, 2012-12-18 13:14:07

In addition to conveying the message as requested, I told the Senator that I find the use of the attitude-drenched term "entitlement" inappropriate for medicaid, medicare and social security. These funds are urgently needed by most people who receive them. Also, $250,000 a year is A LOT OF MONEY. I manage just fine on way less than that. Those folks can pay more. And if they can't, how do they expect social security recipients to manage? None of them are getting $250,000 a year...

— Carlisle Brks, 2012-12-18 13:14:41

I left a message with my phone number. I am already experiencing cuts..We all have to voice and hope Senator Casey can help secure our future. Thank You. Lynda

— Jim Thorpe, 2012-12-18 13:15:22

I left a msg saying that people in my own family couldn't pay for medicine now. If there's a cut, they won't be eating either!

— Ellwood City, 2012-12-18 13:16:07

left a message for the senator...asked him to vote no on any cuts to social security

— Puritan, 2012-12-18 13:17:35

this is very upsetting news. Thank you for sending this out to us!

— Merion Station, 2012-12-18 13:22:37

I left a message for Senator Casey telling him that I strongly opposed any cuts to Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid. I also urged him to support any and all efforts to get assault rifles off our streets.

Voice mail: I left a message.

— Shohola, 2012-12-18 13:24:33

— Reading, 2012-12-18 13:32:07

I phoned Casey's Pittsburgh office, asking him to do everything he could to support Social Security. The Pentagon budget is what needs to be cut. Cranberry Twp, PA

— Cranberry Township, 2012-12-18 13:34:27

— Norristown, 2012-12-18 13:34:59

Please stop any cuts to Social Security

— gilbert, 2012-12-18 13:36:06

No one was there to answer the phone, one mailbox was full, then I left a message on the other one. God, I can't believe Obama is freakin' doing this to us. I wonder now who would have been the better candidate in November if this is the case.

— Annville, 2012-12-18 13:38:49

Left the message to do everything possible not to touch Social Security.

— Bryn Mawr, 2012-12-18 13:41:31

Social security is not an entitlement. Why do Demos let them get away calling it one

— Susquehanna, 2012-12-18 13:47:12

I was a teacher for the SDP. 6 years ago I was attacked at west phila high. My career was destroyed and my marraige of 26 years. I live on disability and a pension "cut short." I'm obviously concerned about cuts to SS. Ed Klein

— Wynnewood, 2012-12-18 13:47:23

A VMM was left for Sen Casey. I also called Sen Toomey whose aide said she would advise the senator of my concerns re: soc sec'y and Medicare. I also left a VMM for Rep Altmire advising him of the same. But, I also believe that Pres Obama should NOT be willing to use Medicare elig and changing the COLA as chips in the budget process. Perhaps he and others forget that most of the older people in this country have been very affected, some of us severely affected by this economy. Many of us rely on less risky investments to live, and these investments now do NOT allow most of us any breathing room regarding living expenses. It is ridiculous to change the COLA calc given that truth, and to increase the elig (age) requirement for Medicare. THese actions just make the "safety-nets" weaker!!! Mary Jo Fisher

— Pittsburgh, 2012-12-18 13:48:10

Got answering machine left message

— Alburtis, 2012-12-18 13:50:03

Call to Senator Robert Casey: 12/18/12, 4:52 PM No one answered at his office and his mailbox was full and so it was impossible to leave a message.

— Allentown, 2012-12-18 13:53:49

Left message due to "high volume." I've worked a long time and paid a lot of money into Social Security. I asked him to do everything in his power to protect social security benefits as they currently exist.

— State College, 2012-12-18 13:54:57

I hope that he respond to my message.

— Philadelphia, 2012-12-18 13:55:19

"Do you commit to oppose any benefit cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid?"

— Univ of Pittsburgh, 2012-12-18 13:55:41

Dear Sen. Bob Casey, please stop the deal to cut social security benefits of seniors, they have pave the way for younger americans today, the seniors are already struggling to manage their fixed income funds when inflation and cost of living is defeating them... senior manage enough today with medicine, housing and food expenses.

— yeadon, 2012-12-18 13:55:50

Called. Left message. Informed the Senator that it is better that the nation go over the fiscal cliff than accept any Republican deal involving Social Security. Reminded him the President ran on that promise. If necessary, his vote against such a deal would be a reminder to the President!

— Penn Hills, 2012-12-18 14:01:15

I just started getting my social security benefits early at age 62 because i am out of work, and i need the funds to keep my bills above water.

— Philadelphia, 2012-12-18 14:04:09

I called left a message of course & I stated social security benefits are as miniscule already any cuts & those who depend on it will suffer. I cannot believe the wealthiest country in the world & we have elderly people eating dog heart is heavy!!!

left message to please not make concessions to the Republicans using SS. People work all there lives for this benefit and need it to make ends met. Honesdale PA

— Pleasant Mt, 2012-12-18 14:09:45

I followed the prompts, selecting that I'd like to speak to a member of his staff. That led me to a second announcement from good old Bob telling me that due to a high call volume, I was going into voicemail regardless of what I want. Finally, I was treated to an electronic voice telling me, "I'm sorry, but that mailbox is full." Bob Casey let me down so many times during the Bush years and I made sure to let him know each time, that as a constituent, I wasn't happy with my representation. He didn't respond to any of my messages, not even with an autoresponding email. He's useless, untouchable and smooth as glass. My last message to him was that I'd never vote for him again. I bit my tongue off as I felt forced to vote for him, in order to stop that fracking idiot, Tom Smith. As the lesser of two evils, because Casey has yet to get through a term without making me regret casting my vote for him. PLEASE vote correctly this time, Mr. Casey. I was hit by a drunk in 2008 who totaled my car and my spine, so as a victim of crime who's eeking it out on SSD, I NEED you to act appropriately and responsibly right now!

— , 2012-12-18 14:12:56

I also got a recording and left a message urging him to stop cuts to Social Security. Richard Sindall, Lititz, PA

— Lititz, 2012-12-18 14:15:28

— Phila., 2012-12-18 14:50:15

said ss was not to be cut, but was not sure this cut was for upper income. Told him I voted for him and for President Obama and expected some action on not ending .(NOT SURE THEY ARE GOING TO CUT THOSE WHO NEED IT SO HAVE TO READ MORE)

— CHESWICK, 2012-12-18 14:54:35

I left a detailed message and included my phone number. I begged that these cuts not be made.

— phila, 2012-12-18 15:02:08

Voice mail only

— Audubon, 2012-12-18 15:02:30

I left a voice message to Mr. Casey urging him to oppose any cuts to medicare, medicade, and social security while supporting measures that would increase taxes for families making more than $250,000 a year.

— Pittsburgh, 2012-12-18 15:12:55

I said the problem is that the rick pay few taxes. n addition, rich can collect social security and pay only to !10,00 0f gross income. Raise that number to 1 million Then, we may be out of fiscal trouble and the benefits I paid for, I will receive.

— Harrisburg, 2012-12-18 15:13:18

I said no way touch social security, there is waste in medicare that could be looked at but not the age of ability, I also expressed my views on assault weapons and magazines that hold thirty rounds. This is totally unacceptable.

— Manheim, 2012-12-18 15:21:35

I left a voice mail about not allowing the ceiling to be raised to $400,000, and I also said I was against cuts to SS, Medicare, and Medicaid.

— Vandergrift, 2012-12-18 15:30:32

Got his tape.

— Bal, 2012-12-18 15:41:41

I called again after having no way to leave a message a few hours ago. (The voice mail box was full.) I called back and asked him stop cuts to S.S. I told him I am on SS and cannot afford day to day living now, if there are cuts I will have to choose between putting food on the table or getting my much needed prescriptions.

— Coplay, 2012-12-18 15:48:06

— Aliquippa, 2012-12-18 15:53:27

Just let Sen. Casey know we are counting on his support on this matter.

— West Hanover, 2012-12-18 16:29:19

Tell them to pay back ALL THE MONEY they borrowed from SS and it will be solvent for many lifetimes....

— Philadelphia, 2012-12-18 16:33:01

I left a voicemail, I am saddened to see that this deal will give tax cuts to people making a million dollars or less, and take away from the people who need it the most, How is it that you are opting to take away the cost of living adjustment, n cut social security. This is not what I would have expected to happen. Very upset.

— Chester, 2012-12-18 16:43:33

I simply asked Sen Casey to protect Soc Sec, stating that I think America is being robbed by very powerful entities with a LOT of money.

— Bridgeport, 2012-12-18 16:45:02

Bethlehem, PA

— Bethlehem, 2012-12-18 17:13:01

AS usual getting a real voice is a joke at Casey's office. After a number of tries I left a message with 15 alternative places to bargain the fiscal cliff. Obama needs to get some backbone.

— Chambersburg, 2012-12-18 18:57:42

Left a message stating my concerns about cuts in Social security, stating that they have no right to cut our Social security, as it is not part of the debt, it is our money, we worked for and paid into Social Security by us.. We need all we get to survive.

— Lewis Run, 2012-12-18 19:09:34

Enough is Enough. Stop striping the only means of income away from us. I only receive $940.00 per mo. My rent is $600.00. You see if you can live on the balance.

— york, 2012-12-18 20:28:54

After hours, I left a message.

— Philadelphia, 2012-12-18 20:54:14

Please do everything in your power to not allow anyone to decrease my social security benefits or of any other person living on fixed income. I have a hard enough time making ends meet. I can't even afford medicare insurance and some of my medicine due to the increase in prices but the increase to our benefits is a disgrace to this country.

— Warminster, 2012-12-18 20:55:14

Tell the President to take Social Security and Medicare off of the table. Tell him we did not work and vote for him to give into the Republicans AGAIN. I'm currently receiving both SS and Medicare and I cannot spare $1 for revenues that both the White House and Republicans are trying to put on the table. Social Security is well funded until 2024 and BOTH should leave their hands off of it. As for Medicare it's ok to find waste and cut it, but not to take away care for seniors.

— Cheltenham, 2012-12-19 00:50:28

I left a message and told him that I didn't pound the streets campaigning this paswt fall in order to get Obama and other dems elected just to have them cave on social security COLA adjustments, while the rich get a tax break. The Republicans lost. I count on those increases. Take it out of the FISCALLY inefficient military and Dick Cheney's pocket. I also told him they can call me. - Doylestown, 2012-12-19

social security is not contributing to the debt!. Leave it alone ! Too many depend on social security and Medicare!

— , 2012-12-19 03:33:00

We are on the poor end of the economy. We can not afford to do with less. DO NOT take food out of our mouths!!! Let the rich people take a cut, we need every penny and MORE not less!~

— Kennett Square, 2012-12-19 03:58:13

I wish that everyone would call.

— Philadelphia, 2012-12-19 04:34:40

Left a message

— King Of Prussia, 2012-12-19 04:54:27

I called and left a message for Senator Bob Casey asking that he not allow any cuts to social security. I mentioned that the 2012 election showed that a majority of people in this country want the rich to start to pay their fair share again, and for the middle and working class to get some assistance.

got answering machine. Never can get a live person. Left a plea but do not know if anyone even listens to his messages. Have never heard back from him on anything even when I request a reply. I will not vote for him again, do not think he cares.

— Levittown, 2012-12-19 05:51:34

social security did not add to our deficit, therefore social security should not be on the table

— Philadelphia, 2012-12-19 06:00:03

No cuts to medicare, please.

— Mansfield, 2012-12-19 06:08:48

Requested no changes to SS until the playing field is leveled and the rich pay their fare share of taxes.

— Shinglehouse, 2012-12-19 06:08:56

We are all in this together. I am willing to contribute to the fiscal problem, but i believe membrs of Congress should, as well. Will they accept pay cuts? a pay freeze? compulaory contribution to their health care? Memmbers of Congress must share the burden.

— Plymouth Meeting, 2012-12-19 06:10:26

No response at this time

— Pittsburgh, 2012-12-19 06:23:30

Please do not cut social security benefits for senior citizens.

— RICHBORO, 2012-12-19 06:24:16

Got member of staff finally. Would not give answer where Senator Casey is on this matter. Did not even take my name, did give it, just wanted to know what country I lived in. Did promise at the end of the day the Senator would be given all messages that come in.

— levittown, 2012-12-19 06:27:27

Please do not agree to change the way the cola is made to social security. It is unfair to ask the elderly, most vulnerable to take the cuts to address the national debt. Social Security does not affect the debt. It is a separate, solvent entity. Why is this being agreed to. Help the seniors in Pennsylvania. Do the right and moral thing. If the debt is to be addressed then it should be those making $250,000 or more. Do not cave.

— North Charleroi, 2012-12-19 06:29:16

He seems like a good guy. I hope that he follows through on this.

Dear Senator Casey, I know of two people who should be of interest to you: 1.) THOMAS K. GILHOOL, ESQ. He is Pennsylvania's longest acting Secretary of Education and served during your father's governorship (and, incidentally, is my esteemed brother-in-law; and 2.) Joe Killian, my longest and closest friend, who is 74 years old, a Navy veteran and who lives entirely on his Social Security and a $97 per month pension. Please DON"T vote for any kind of cuts in Social Security benefits. Tom may not need his to survive but Joe K. does! Respectfully, Dorsa Russell

— Philadelphia, 2012-12-19 07:00:51

Was only able to leave a recorded message.

— Doylestown, 2012-12-19 07:08:52

I got a recording and left a voice mail

— East Norriton, 2012-12-19 07:13:34

I don't know why the senate has not talked about welfare reform, instead of cuts to social security.

— Thornhurst, 2012-12-19 07:24:23

I called and left a message along with my phone number for a return call concerning this matter.

— Philadelphia, 2012-12-19 07:26:41

i called robert casey regarding social security benefits , i said about the how the cuts may hurt us and that obam is right about rasing the taxes on the riches people in our country and , the armed forces should be cut more , sincerely charles

— Elmira, 2012-12-19 07:34:08

I told him no cuts to social security and that includes cost of living and that I helped him get re-elected and hope he listens to our voices.

— Dover, 2012-12-19 07:39:52

Automatic answering machine took my call, and thanked me for my opinion.

— Birdsboro, 2012-12-19 07:51:49

Unfortunately no one ever picks up the phone at Senator Casey's office. I left a message urging him to make sure that any fiscal deal does not include any cuts to any benefit programs, but especially Social Security since it has no impact on the debt.

— West Chester, 2012-12-19 08:08:36

I specifically pressed "2" to speak to a person and was sent to voice mail anyway.

— Warwick, 2012-12-19 08:17:10

12-19-12 registered my wife and my concerns and our disbelief that social security has been put on the is obvious that our politicians are on the take and that we , the working middle class, are being thrown to the wolves.

— Latrobe, 2012-12-19 08:25:23

No 5% decrease to current Social security recipients or to future recipients over the age of 52, this year. No extension of Bush tax cuts to the top 2%; no existing or new loopholes written or extended for the top 2%.

— East Stroudsburg, 2012-12-19 08:25:36

I left a voicemail and left a message

— Philedelphia, 2012-12-19 08:31:17

I left a message regarding social Security cuts along with suggestion that no matter how much you make a .5% tax should be on everyone making over the max amount and extending the max amount. This would help pay for the weathly wives that don't work but collect social security and medicare.

— Mountain Top, 2012-12-19 08:31:28

He's never in the office and does not return phone calls!!!

— Irwin, 2012-12-19 08:33:02

I left a message because there was no other option!

— patton, 2012-12-19 08:35:33

Why are you attacking Social Security when I worked hard for my part in Social Security and you don't put any in the Social Security but continually raid it for whatever PORK is needed. Wake up! We Pennsylvanians and all of Americans are fed up. Look out in 3 years elections.

— Crystal Spring, 2012-12-19 08:36:28

Left message. Included asking for further cuts to military spending.

— erie, 2012-12-19 08:38:51

He is certainly going to do "all that he can do." My response was "Does that mean he will vote against it?" Staff member just repeated the first sentence again and thanked me for calling and got my zip code.

— Philadelphia, 2012-12-19 08:47:02

When I called I got an automated message of Senator Bob Casey's voice. I asked him to do everything within his power to stop any cuts to social security. left a message stating no cuts be made please too ssi im fully disabled and its my only income im sqweeking by now with these benefits what i get im able too survive any cuts too them will make me homeless.....and it scares me

— erie, 2012-12-19 08:49:12

First time I called, got recorded message.Second time I called, staff member said Casey would do everything he could to stop Medicare cuts. And if you believe that, I have a nice bridge to sell you in Brooklyn.

— Dingmans Ferry., 2012-12-19 08:56:26

Of course I got no live person, but I did leave my message. I said that even if the only cut to SS is in the form of a change to the COLA computation, it is a cut that increases over time. We who depend on SS as a primary source of income now and in the future cannot afford to have the COLA cut. That cut will increase over time.

— Philadelphia, 2012-12-19 09:00:55

I called the Pittsburgh PA office 412-803-7370. Talked with Jackie Erickson. She said Sen Casey is not wavering. She wanted to know who said he was wavering. I told her MOVEON.ORG in an email. I said I would send a copy of the email to her. She thanked me and said MOVEON.ORG would be visiting her office in a few minutes.

— Forest Hills boro PA, 2012-12-19 09:04:09

Will work to protect SS for current recipients.

— Kutztown, 2012-12-19 09:38:35

I left a message on Sen. Casey's phone asking to stop any cuts to social security, that I worked hard all my life until I was injured. You never know what will happen! Save s.s.

— Pittsburgh, 2012-12-19 09:39:46

I left a recorded message. I told him the latest "increase" on Social Security of $16 a month would barely buy 4 gallons of gasoline. I told him I'm a widow and am barely getting by now and don't see how I could live on even less

— Moon Twp, 2012-12-19 10:25:32

I requested Sen. Casey to do whatever is in his power to stop any cuts to Social Security benefits. I told him my husband and I contributed to SS for 40-years, and it's now our only income. I ended by asking Sen. Casey to "do the right thing."

— Blakeslee, 2012-12-19 10:31:18

The person who answered the phone would not promise that Senator Casey would vote against a deal that had cuts to Social Security, changes to the COLA or "Chained CPI,: but he said that the Senator is working hard to prevent those cuts from becoming part of the deal.

— , 2012-12-19 10:37:16

As usual I had to leave a message. I told Sen Casey just what I thought about the possibility of touching Medicare and SS. I to them that I am tired of being held hostage and perhaps they should all take a cut in pay instead of hitting us. We have already paid for SS and that Fed. Employees do not pay into SS so perhaps they should have to live on SS and then see just what it is like to have no money to even buy a cup of coffee for pleasure.

— Milford, 2012-12-19 11:09:08

I left a message that requested that He vote to leave SS, Medicare, and Medicade as thet are. I am 66 years old and worked for 44 years paying into these programs. These are NOT ENTITLEMENTS!!!! This is OUR MONEY!!!

— KUTZTOWN, 2012-12-19 11:15:38

I called and placed my message on Se. Casey's voice mail. I depend on my social security as my sole source of income, and cannot imagine trying to get by on less. With the proposed "chained CPI, the effect on the oldest of retirees would be catastrophic. I reminded the senator that we re-elected the president on the notion that social security would not be touched, and would be strengthened. To do otherwise is a betrayal to we older workers who toiled on his behalf.

— Pittsburgh, 2012-12-19 11:57:00

Do not cut our social security benefits , most seniors on Social Security r on fixed, incomes and can barely afford meds, food, transportation, It is such a small amount as us to live on , And Seniors do not deserve to loose any of it, they have worked hard all there years , and need to be able to relax and not worry about , there meds and where r they going to get next dime to eat. There is so much more that can be cut, not the seniors. Other Country's take care of Seniors , what is wrong with us. Seniors r secret, please leave the funds of seniors alone . Doria

— Harrisburg, 2012-12-19 12:11:45

We didn't get a cola raise for two years but congress did...and this year is 1.7% thats $17 dollars a month if your getting 1000$ a they want to get rid of these sorry cola raises..sorry I voted the way i did!

— pitcairn, 2012-12-19 12:21:31

Let a message saying that the cuts proposed for Social Security would be a hardship for many Americans, including myself

— Williamsport, 2012-12-19 12:21:55

I got voice mail and I said please don't make no cuts to social security

— Philadelphia, 2012-12-19 12:22:32

— Eddington, 2012-12-19 12:26:09

— Philadelphia, 2012-12-19 14:12:40

Please don't make cuts to Social Security, they a very important to the Seniors of this country, people like your parents and people like me paid into these over many years, so why deprive us of being able to collect on them!!!! Thank You....George M.MacGregor

— Folsom, 2012-12-19 14:44:15

How can they cut entitlements and let the Pentagon off the hook entirely? That's discusting and I will be very angry if you vote to cut entitlements without at least a half trillion coming off the military!

I expressed my absolute oposition to SS and Medicare cuts being part of this deficit reduction deal being discussed in Washington.

— Erie, 2012-12-20 03:29:09

went to voice-mail. I left a msg- with my call back number- fyi

— Milford, 2012-12-20 06:12:35

Asked him not to betray the people of this country. Shame on him!

— PHILADELPHIA, 2012-12-20 06:23:06

I contacted the Senator's office and asked him to stop the Chained CPI approach of the President.

— Fivepointville, 2012-12-20 06:45:07

I left a message as suggested and added my own comments (Social Security is not the problem and don't touch it for now, and do not reduce Medicare and Medicaid benefits). I have found that there is no option to talk to anyone at the Senator's office. We are given two options. The first is to leave a message. The second is for needing help from the senator. If you select that option, you still have to leave a message. Sad.

— Ligonier, 2012-12-20 07:05:42

My wife & I voted for him & Pres Obama with the understanding they would support no cuts to SS & Medicare.

— Altoona, 2012-12-20 07:17:36

When I called I got an automated message of Senator Bob Casey's voice. I asked him to do everything within his power to stop any cuts to social security.

— Lebanon, 2012-12-20 07:22:05

I reminded the Senator that I am a 75 yr. old Committeeperson in Philadelphia and will consider his vote on S.S. at election time.

— phila., 2012-12-20 07:29:09

I identified myself as a small contributor and a big worker to help his reelection because he said he would defend Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. I said we emptied our wallets and worked our tails off because of this promise and we are asking him to honor that promise.

— Darby, 2012-12-20 08:17:55

told them i'd leave the dem party if they cave.

— port matilda, 2012-12-20 08:23:42

No one answered but I left a very clear message that although I do not receive Social Security, I know that many Americans depend on it for basic human needs. I also asked him to push to have the President's original plan accepted.

— Pittsburgh, 2012-12-20 09:25:43

Protect our social security

— Walnutport, 2012-12-20 09:42:51

Left message to leave Social Security and Medicare out of the fiscal cliff and to extend the limits on payroll deductions or charge a fee for transaction on Wall St and any other stock exchange across the nation - also slash military spending

— philadelphia, 2012-12-20 09:45:32

Got a recorded message asking for a response. Left response. Will call again until I get a live person.

— Elkins Park, 2012-12-20 09:55:27

Got recording and left a message. Told him I just turned 65 and will depend on social security since I have no pension and very little in my 401k.

— Spring City, 2012-12-20 10:17:54

as always got a recorded message, saying my message is important to him, I told him if that is a sincere statement then SS, Medicare and Medicaid should not be on the table for cuts and if so, he should vote against them.

— waynesboro, 2012-12-20 10:30:27

Has this bill been stopped?

— Southampton, 2012-12-21 06:48:20

Do your job, how dare you think about taking social security and cutting our benefits we paid for our entire life. Let's start with you Senator and cut your pension benefits. Let start right there with you and congress who only have your job in mind, not what is good for the american people. I am so disgusted, not to mention that no one in the GOP can say anything about gun control until Today when the NRA has their say. COWARDS, all of you.

— , 2012-12-21 09:04:42

Do not cut Social security. I have been payinf into that for years and there are peole that depend on that to live.
