What Other MoveOn Members Are Hearing

vague generic comments from staffers

— Cochiti Lake, 2012-12-18 07:34:15

I spoke with receptionists in both offices. They were very nice. Udall's office took my zip code. Bingaman's office in regards to Bush Tax Cuts questioned the income level---I said I felt flexible with that--would accept $250,000-$500,000 income limit. Both women presented as writing down message to pass on to Senators. Thank you

— taos, 2012-12-18 07:43:53

THis took only a few minutes. Staffers said they would pass "it" along to the Senators.

— Albuquerque, 2012-12-18 08:40:44

Non committal reply by aide. "We'll pass on your comments"

— West Las Vegas, 2012-12-18 08:50:10

answered the phone...polite and non-commital

— Placitas, 2012-12-18 08:51:23

spoke to staff at both offices and they said they would pass my message along

— UNM, 2012-12-18 08:59:26

asst will pass on mesage

— Taos, 2012-12-18 09:13:39

both people who answered the phones said their Senator was a strong supporter of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid but they didnt know any specific response to the news of the proposed deal

— Santa Fe, 2012-12-18 09:45:18

Jeff Bingaman is not my senator but is a college classmate and I called and spoke to a staffer on that basis. She took my message and will report it to Jeff. She said that he was and will continue to be a strong supporter of Social Security.

— Lyme, 2012-12-18 09:49:53

Bingaman's office must be closed already. There was no answer. Udall's aid said she would pass it on to him.

— Albuquerque, 2012-12-18 09:51:12

The receptionist just asked for my zip code.

— Santa Fe, 2012-12-18 09:57:12

Talked to staffer. Could not make a commitment for Sen. Bingaman, but assured me that he was a strong supporter and knows how important it is to NM to support SS, Medicare, Medicaid. I told her not just to NM, but to the Democratic party because we won't put up with being thrown under the bus.

— Edgewood, 2012-12-18 10:03:18

Happy to oblige.

— Santa Fe, 2012-12-18 10:15:57

we voted for democrats to preserve democratic pollicies not to help the gop agenda

— albuquerque, 2012-12-18 10:32:44

Reported my concerns--as a senior-- that Soc. Sec. not be touched in present negotiations with Rs.(as per Sen Reid). No concrete response from Udall or Bingaman staffers.

— Santa Fe, 2012-12-18 10:56:04

Have always . . . thus far . . . supported . . . . . .

— Santa Fe, 2012-12-18 11:22:12

I spoke with a Michael at Senator Bingaman's office. He said the Senator would not support cuts to Social Security.

— Albuquerque, 2012-12-18 11:58:38

Staffer said that Social Security important to New Mexico residents especially, but no firm statement other than doing what he could to keep 'programs' strong.

— Hillsboro, 2012-12-18 12:13:11

Both just took my calls. Bingaman asked for my zip code. Other than that, neither staffer said anything except thank you.

— Tesuque Pueblo, 2012-12-18 12:27:31

DO NOT CUT SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS

— Bosque Farms, 2012-12-18 13:05:14

They both thanked me for calling

— Albuquerque, 2012-12-18 13:14:05

Called both offices Very nice receptionists at both said they would pass on my message. Thanked both Senators for their hard work for our state and country.

— Tesuque Pueblo, 2012-12-18 13:15:02

Both took the message. It was explained to both that while President Obama can write books after this term, my vote for them or the party's next choice for seat would be very unlikely if they end up on the wrong side of this vote. unlikely

— Albuquerque, 2012-12-18 13:32:39

Tom Udall said doesn't want budget balanced on backs of elderly. Jeff Bingaman supports Soc Security but has no firm stance.

— Albuquerque, 2012-12-18 13:33:35

Both office staffers seemed less than forthright and interested about taking a stand in opposition to proposed changes to social security. Very very dissapointing. contacts made via e-mail.

— Ruidoso, 2012-12-18 13:42:27

Spoke with staffers. They did not commit. Udall's office said he did not believe they programs caused our fiscal issues.

— Santa Fe, 2012-12-18 13:48:53

Talked with an aid. Stated my reasons for opposing any cuts in SS, including eliminating cost-of-living raises in Medicare. Said the economists/analysts I listen to say such a move will eventually eat deeply into SS benefits.

— Albuquerque, 2012-12-18 13:52:12

Please do the right thing as your parting gift to Democrats.

— las cruces, 2012-12-18 13:56:45

I asked the staffer who answered where the Senator stands on proposed cuts to Social Security--especially the "chained" CPI. She said she didn't know and transferred me to an extension that no one answered. Placitas

— , 2012-12-18 13:57:15

also expressed concern that the tax cuts for the wealthy will not return to the pre Bush percent. They and corporations MUST pay their share with out the present loop holes and without the present tax laws the allow them to hide money from our tax code and/or not pay ant tax at all. Do not cut a deal that is cosmetic. Please tell the Presicent not to cave. Thank you

— Albuquerque, 2012-12-18 14:30:38

thank yoou for your call

— Las Cruces, 2012-12-18 14:41:00

Left messages.

— Santa Fe, 2012-12-18 16:06:27

Told girl I wanted to send back Holiday card I got from White House if I was going to be thrown under the bus so quickly!

— Los Lunas, 2012-12-19 04:58:25

They will pass my concerns on to the Congressman and Senator. So I went on to tell them I am Disabled 48 yrs old and what cut will do to me.

— La Plata, 2012-12-19 09:09:39

Udall has been against these cuts, but won't go on record until a bill has been put forward with actual figures to respond to. Bingaman's office also listened to my appeal and agreed to pass it on to the senator, but made no commitment.

— Tesuque Pueblo, 2012-12-19 11:02:03

Spoke with receptionists in both offices. When asked where the senators stand on this bill, Udall's receptionist indicated he would vote against it. Bingamen's receptionist said she did not know where he stands on the issue but would pass along my comments.

— Santa Fe, 2012-12-19 12:16:15

no comment about knowledge of any possible cut on the block

— Santa Fe, 2012-12-20 09:27:44

Staffer summarized his ongoing support but wouldn't say he'd commit to opposing any cuts. Said she'd pass on my comments.

— Albuquerque, 2012-12-20 13:46:33
