Requested rep to have Sen Conrad to oppose any alteration of SS and Medicare benefits.

Secretary answered and said she does not know what he will do. He was not there. She said he is getting a lot of disgruntled calls from ND. I told her I was very upset!

Spoke with aide who said they have been getting a lot of calls and he is getting the messages. I asked her to find out what he is doing about this so people can have an answer when they call.

— Columbia, 2012-12-18 09:53:04

He's not there. The secretary don't know how he will vote.

Please protect Social Security and Medicare. I am a Viet Nam Veteran (USMC). I receive $218.00 (PBGC) per month after 22 years of service with Pan American World Airways –Bankruptcy (not the $1700.00 that I should have been entitled. El Toro Marine base was closed I lost my job with SATO. My wife and I need and count on our Social Security. I support increasing taxes on guns and ammunition to pay for security and law enforcement. I support mandatory liability insurance for all registered gun owners, either through a gun and ammunition fee or other private insurance. Thank you Richard F. Non comittal secretary. I was emphatic that SS is a non negotiable

— Tarrytown, 2012-12-18 12:38:22

I have been paying into Social Security my whole life and you should not have the right to make decisions about what to do with my retirement money. Politicians need to stop trying to raid Social Security and Medicare to pay for their bad decisions and bad spending habits. I am not the one who decided to start a war with Iraq, I should not have to pay for it with my retirement money. Social Security is not what is driving the deficit, stop trying to steal it to pay for your wars and tax cuts for the people who won't need social security when they retire.

— Salem, 2012-12-18 13:07:05

There are a lot of people that really need SOC. SEC.that can't afford it to be cut,But then there are some that have very good retirement packages that maybe don't need it ????

— Dixon, 2012-12-18 15:18:26 not do this. Do not alter SS or Medicare benefits. You are hurting the very people who are most vulnerable.

— Rose Hill, 2012-12-18 16:10:55

Phonelines are swamped. Outgoing message suggested contacting Senator through his website:

s/w someone in the office. he will pass on info to the senator

— gainesville, 2012-12-19 06:53:35

will pass the message along Lets ammend the constitution with this! _*Congressional Reform Act of 2012*_ 1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office. 2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose. 3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do. 4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%. 5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.
