What Other MoveOn Members Are Hearing

Spoke to whomever answered the phone and said as a senior citizen who worked on the campaign, and living on a fixed income I NEED their help.

— Missoula, 2012-12-18 07:35:34

Please stop this 5% cut in to my Social Security benefits. I will be only getting 700 a month. This is unapproachable and unconscious threat to the poor people living on fixed incomes. We need your HELP. Thank you Sir. Kathleen Woods

— Bozeman, 2012-12-18 07:49:36

Called both offices...and, asked them to do everything they can to stop the deal. A girl in each office took a message.

— Miles City, 2012-12-18 07:51:50

Called both offices, spoke with pleasant individuals in both cases and left a message encouraging the Senators to stand firm against the current deal that would cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicad. Not good for Montana nor for the nation.

— Red Lodge, 2012-12-18 08:09:33

I live on 850.00 a month. I cannot afford meat on my table as I only get 110.00 SNAP. Could anyone of you live on 3.70 a day for food? I weigh 110 pounds and cannot even fathom this cut. I am doing everything I can at a middle age to get educated. This is the only answer I have to help this situation, yet I am disabled. I do not feel like this is an entitlement as I worked 26 years. Please stop this insanity!~

— Great Falls, 2012-12-18 08:33:18

The reps I spoke with for each senator said they would pass my message on.

— Helena, 2012-12-18 08:38:02

Called both ---was told they would give our Senators the message.

— Missoula, 2012-12-18 08:44:53

Called both Senators---I was told they would leave my message.

— , 2012-12-18 08:48:21

Left a message regarding social Security, etc. And I also left a message asking them to support sensible gun regulations such as NO AKCs. The massacre of little children by a derange man has pushed me over a cliff!

— Billings, 2012-12-18 09:24:12

The response was equivocal. "I believe parts of hte Medicare program could be changed to expand coverage and simplify the program for beneficiaries." "I support ensuring the long-term solvency of SS."

— MISSOULA, 2012-12-18 09:30:13

They would pass the message on to the senators.

— Missoula, 2012-12-18 09:40:42

Had to talk to staff in both offices. Not able to talk directly to the Senators. Staff said they would pass on.Told them Social Security should not be part of the deficit discussion, it is funded through payroll taxes and is a totally separate issue. Cut defense spending, leave SS alone.

— MSLA, 2012-12-18 09:43:12

we can not afford any cuts to SS as we are hardly surviving now...Please dont do it...We supported you in the election this year and we expect as seniors you to support us...Just propose taking away the ceiling on the FICA withholding so anyone has to pay no matter how much they make...right now if you make more than 110,000 you get to stop paying...that would support SS for years to come...

— , 2012-12-18 09:50:40

"The senator will do everything he can to ensure the long term future of and effectiveness of Social Security." The rest of the discussion was sort of , "Well, gee, we'll just wait and see what comes before the Senate." I went on record as opposing any consideration whatever of entitlements in the deficit discussions. BRM

— Missoula, 2012-12-18 09:56:01

Spoke to a person at Baucus, ans machine at Tester. Left name and address. Begged the senators to not cave into the Repub obstructionists who want to cut our COLA instead of cutting tax breaks for the rich. We elderly need every dollar of our Soc. Sec. and the rich DO NOT need more breaks. Cutting COLA would be a disaster for millions of elderly citizens.

— Bozeman, 2012-12-18 10:07:34

It's time to organize all progressives around the idea that we can no longer expect dino's to ever work towards anything but a regressive agenda. Time to resign ourselves to the reality that if we are ever to hold our ground, much less make gains that the only thing that the phoneys will respect is the real threat of being primaried.

— Whitehall, 2012-12-18 10:14:18

"thank you for your call. I will pass it along...". Senator Baucus' office puleed me right up in their database. I said the data base is impressive, the voting record not so much. "I'm not kidding. I won't keep voting for Democrats who go to Washington and act like Republicans"

— Missoula, 2012-12-18 10:20:06

— MISSOULA, 2012-12-18 10:31:46

The person that answered will pass my message on.

— Great Falls, 2012-12-18 10:38:37

Left messages with staff @ both offices. Each staff person assured me that the Senator would receive my message encouraging each to be firm against any cuts to Social Security.

— Rollins, 2012-12-18 11:11:41

Senator Max Baucus's office didn't not pick up - line just goes dead

— Helena, 2012-12-18 12:38:10

Both secretaries tokk my message and said they would pass it on. Cheryl Kelly- Billings

— Billings, 2012-12-18 13:11:12

Called each office to express my diapproval of chained CPI. Of course, neither senator would commit. Reminded phone answerer in Sen Baucus's Missoula office that the senator has to run again in two years. I stopped in his office in Helena last month to express my disapproval for both raising medicare elegibility age and chained cpi

— MSLA, 2012-12-18 13:26:29

A worker said they would transmit the message to the Senators.

— Lolo, 2012-12-18 13:36:52

I asked that NO cuts to Social Security be made. She said she would pass that along to Senator Baucus. I asked that Senator Tester should make sure there are NO cuts to SS & That I try to survive on that income. She asked if I wanted to leave my name & I did so!

— Helena, 2012-12-18 14:13:11

Tester more supportive; Baucus did not commit

— kalispell, 2012-12-18 14:34:04

I feel much better about Jon, based on recent statements and conversations.

— missoula, 2012-12-18 15:01:49

Forwarded the message on to all I know.

— Joliet, 2012-12-18 15:31:55

We let both Max and Jon know how serious we are about holding them responsible if cuts are made to Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid. Take more out of defense.

— , 2012-12-18 17:55:49

As ranchers we are depending on social security benefits. If social security benefits are cut or illuminated we no longer want to pay FICA taxes. A refund or those taxes we paid already would be acceptable too.

— Choteau, 2012-12-18 18:34:05

In both offices, 'boiler=plate': staff reps said the Sen. was v. concerned and watching the 'debate' but would not at this point commit to ANYTHING else.

— Missoula, 2012-12-19 06:36:42

put on hold did not get time to leave message

— Frenchtown, 2012-12-19 07:10:48

Talk with staffers at both offices and left a strong gun control message, too.

— Bozeman, 2012-12-19 07:12:44

Thanked me for calling.

— MSLA, 2012-12-19 07:44:29

I just got one of their aids and they said they would pass the msg on to both Max and Jon. Happy Holidays!! Tom

— Helena, 2012-12-19 08:53:50

Tester's office says he is not waivering as your list indicates, but is opposed to cutting SS, Medicare, Medicaid. I'd be interested in knowing the real truth.

— Missoula, 2012-12-19 09:46:26

I discussed this with an aide and she is passing my message along to Tester and Baucus.

— Whitefish, 2012-12-19 11:03:59

she'll lt Senator know

— bozeman, 2012-12-20 10:13:47

I asked if Senator Tester would stop the President's deal. The male staffer said he would let the Senator know about my question, comments, etc. and I would get a response via e-mail.

— Townsend, 2012-12-20 10:14:18

I spoke to a female staff person at the offices of Senator Max Baucua and Senator Jon Tester. Both were very nice and took my message to not punish the poor and elderly in favor of the rich by doing anything at all to Social Security, as promised by President Obama during the past campaign, too. Patti Farley Lewistown, MT. 59457 406-535-3211

— Lewistown, 2012-12-21 14:23:54

Say NO to any cuts in Medicare, Medicaid. or My SOCIAL SECURITY....To Cut The Budget Spending Crisis cut the Defense budget....

— , 2012-12-22 06:06:47

Hands off our money, we didn't create the debt you did!

Do Not cut any of our SS benefits. I live on less than $700 a month right now and cannot afford any less.
