When you asked the Senator if they would do everything in their power to stop this deal if it includes the reported cuts to Social Security benefits, what did they say?

What Other MoveOn Members Are Hearing

Spoke to whomever answered the phone and said as a senior citizen who worked on the campaign, and living on a fixed income I NEED their help.

— Missoula, 2012-12-18 07:35:34

Please stop this 5% cut in to my Social Security benefits. I will be only getting 700 a month. This is unapproachable and unconscious threat to the poor people living on fixed incomes. We need your HELP. Thank you Sir. Kathleen Woods

— Bozeman, 2012-12-18 07:49:36

Called both offices...and, asked them to do everything they can to stop the deal. A girl in each office took a message.

— Miles City, 2012-12-18 07:51:50

Called both offices, spoke with pleasant individuals in both cases and left a message encouraging the Senators to stand firm against the current deal that would cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicad. Not good for Montana nor for the nation.

— Red Lodge, 2012-12-18 08:09:33

Asked the senator to go against the deal the president has that includes social security cuts

— Hollywood, 2012-12-18 08:09:38

I live on 850.00 a month. I cannot afford meat on my table as I only get 110.00 SNAP. Could anyone of you live on 3.70 a day for food? I weigh 110 pounds and cannot even fathom this cut. I am doing everything I can at a middle age to get educated. This is the only answer I have to help this situation, yet I am disabled. I do not feel like this is an entitlement as I worked 26 years. Please stop this insanity!~

— Great Falls, 2012-12-18 08:33:18

The reps I spoke with for each senator said they would pass my message on.

— Helena, 2012-12-18 08:38:02

Called both ---was told they would give our Senators the message.

— Missoula, 2012-12-18 08:44:53

Called both Senators---I was told they would leave my message.

— , 2012-12-18 08:48:21

Left a message regarding social Security, etc. And I also left a message asking them to support sensible gun regulations such as NO AKCs. The massacre of little children by a derange man has pushed me over a cliff!

— Billings, 2012-12-18 09:24:12

They would pass the message on to the senators.

— Missoula, 2012-12-18 09:40:42

Had to talk to staff in both offices. Not able to talk directly to the Senators. Staff said they would pass on.Told them Social Security should not be part of the deficit discussion, it is funded through payroll taxes and is a totally separate issue. Cut defense spending, leave SS alone.

— MSLA, 2012-12-18 09:43:12

left message with office - She said he has always been a strong supporter of these benefits.

— OLNEY, 2012-12-18 09:47:30

dont support the cuts to SS or we won't support your coming election, we promise...we supported Tester this time and just sent him the same message...Stand up and tell the administration to remove the cap on FICA withholding and that will support SS for years to come..easy fix...

— Roundup, 2012-12-18 09:52:32

Spoke to a person at Baucus, ans machine at Tester. Left name and address. Begged the senators to not cave into the Repub obstructionists who want to cut our COLA instead of cutting tax breaks for the rich. We elderly need every dollar of our Soc. Sec. and the rich DO NOT need more breaks. Cutting COLA would be a disaster for millions of elderly citizens.

— Bozeman, 2012-12-18 10:07:34

It's time to organize all progressives around the idea that we can no longer expect dino's to ever work towards anything but a regressive agenda. Time to resign ourselves to the reality that if we are ever to hold our ground, much less make gains that the only thing that the phoneys will respect is the real threat of being primaried.

— Whitehall, 2012-12-18 10:14:18

"thank you for your call. I will pass it along...". Senator Baucus' office puleed me right up in their database. I said the data base is impressive, the voting record not so much. "I'm not kidding. I won't keep voting for Democrats who go to Washington and act like Republicans"

— Missoula, 2012-12-18 10:20:06

Left messages with staff @ both offices. Each staff person assured me that the Senator would receive my message encouraging each to be firm against any cuts to Social Security.

— Rollins, 2012-12-18 11:11:41

Informed that Baucus has always been a strong supporter of Medicaid/Medicare and none of the proposed cuts are set in stone at this point.

— Belgrade, 2012-12-18 11:35:43

Senator Max Baucus's office didn't not pick up - line just goes dead

— Helena, 2012-12-18 12:38:10

Dec. 18, 1:30pm left message with his aide Heather, instead making cuts by doing away with NASA.As I am on social security disability, these cuts would be devastating to me. I have paid into social security for 40 years & this is hardly the way to treat myself as well as others. Thank You respecfully submitted, Bridget Vaisvil

— Delta, 2012-12-18 12:44:04

Both secretaries tokk my message and said they would pass it on. Cheryl Kelly- Billings

— Billings, 2012-12-18 13:11:12

A worker said they would transmit the message to the Senators.

— Lolo, 2012-12-18 13:36:52

I asked that NO cuts to Social Security be made. She said she would pass that along to Senator Baucus. I asked that Senator Tester should make sure there are NO cuts to SS & That I try to survive on that income. She asked if I wanted to leave my name & I did so!

— Helena, 2012-12-18 14:13:11

Tester more supportive; Baucus did not commit

— kalispell, 2012-12-18 14:34:04

dont you dare

Number has been disconnected. Message. Will send email. You should update your contact numbers.

— Anaconda, 2012-12-18 15:00:40

Please do not go along with these cuts to Social Security and Medicare. Remember the Middle Class and who, primarily, has put you where you are today. I have worked for you and voted for you; don't disappoint me.

— Great Falls, 2012-12-18 15:20:25

Forwarded the message on to all I know.

— Joliet, 2012-12-18 15:31:55

We let both Max and Jon know how serious we are about holding them responsible if cuts are made to Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid. Take more out of defense.

— , 2012-12-18 17:55:49

In both offices, 'boiler=plate': staff reps said the Sen. was v. concerned and watching the 'debate' but would not at this point commit to ANYTHING else.

— Missoula, 2012-12-19 06:36:42

put on hold did not get time to leave message

— Frenchtown, 2012-12-19 07:10:48

Talk with staffers at both offices and left a strong gun control message, too.

— Bozeman, 2012-12-19 07:12:44

I just got one of their aids and they said they would pass the msg on to both Max and Jon. Happy Holidays!! Tom

— Helena, 2012-12-19 08:53:50

I discussed this with an aide and she is passing my message along to Tester and Baucus.

— Whitefish, 2012-12-19 11:03:59

Staqffer said he has been a strong supported in the past adn would be a strong supported int he future!

— Missoula, 2012-12-20 13:43:50

I spoke to a female staff person at the offices of Senator Max Baucua and Senator Jon Tester. Both were very nice and took my message to not punish the poor and elderly in favor of the rich by doing anything at all to Social Security, as promised by President Obama during the past campaign, too. I worked for 25 years for the Board of Education and had worked since i was 15 years old until i had a terrible car accident that prevented me from performing my work like i used to. I have made my contributions to Social Security during that time and i now depend on these benefits to support my family and myself. Please stop the deal.
