— Saint Cloud, 2012-12-18 07:31:58

— Bird Island, 2012-12-18 08:08:28

Both offices said they'd pass the message on.

— Minneapolis, 2012-12-18 08:19:18

My comments are...Why does everyone want to mess with benefits for older people? They should be negotiating the ENTITLEMENT benefits such as welfare for younger people! Young people, when pushed, will make the money they need to survive and older people don't have that kind of "future" opportunity. Social Security is not an entitlement benefit, it's an EARNED benefit that those of us who do work and don't rely on ENTITLEMENT pay into for our future. It's not that difficult...

— St Anthony Village, 2012-12-18 08:19:37

Indicated She was not happy with the Republican proposal relevant to Social Security & Medicare.

— Duluth, 2012-12-18 08:20:41

— Chisago City, 2012-12-18 08:39:47

Klobuchar's aide continues to say "she has not made a statement about the social safety net programs". I told her "she is skating on thin ice if she votes for this deal". Franken is on board.

— Edina, 2012-12-18 08:41:21

spoke to staff

— maple grove, 2012-12-18 08:59:51

I called both Senators offices. Both took my message and said they would pass it along. Senator Franken office took additional info for a response. I know he's against the cuts and I appreciate his support. I hope Amy will listen to us, too.

— Minneapolis, 2012-12-18 08:59:51

They will pass on the message.

— Babbitt, 2012-12-18 09:02:48

Spoke with assistants and was assured they would pass it long. And thanked by both.

— Forest Lake, 2012-12-18 09:08:41

DONT LET THEM TOUCH MY SS--I PAID FOR THAT -- DONT GIVE IN TO THE TEAPUBLICAN DEMANDS

— BURNSVILLE, 2012-12-18 09:14:57

On hold 10 minutes due to flooded phone lines. Hung up

— Ankeny, 2012-12-18 09:18:37

talked to staff telling them take SS off the table it is not part of the budget

— Edina, 2012-12-18 09:23:50

I strongly oppose changes to the way in which the Social Security cost of living adjustment is computed. Should retirees be reduced to poverty in their 80s and 90s? Instead, raise the maximum income on which Social Security taxes MUST be collected. AND hold out for taxes on income over $250,000 or let ALL the tax cuts expire.

— DeKalb, 2012-12-18 09:24:00

Please do not touch social security and medicare. They are very important to seniors, especially with the increase in the cost of living and no way to increase our retirement benefits.

— Davis, 2012-12-18 09:24:23

They'll let her know what I said. I turned it to all the others besides retirees who are dependent on Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid like disabled, children whose parent or parents have died, and tied it to the inequality in the country.

— Eagan, 2012-12-18 09:24:27

I talked with both staffs and said not to raise the age or any other part of Medicare, Medicaid, and S S

— Minneapolis, 2012-12-18 09:26:12

Staff for bothe senators said they would pass message to senator.

— Eden Prairie, 2012-12-18 09:27:13

I called both senators to voice my opposition to reported cuts to Social Security. Pres. Obama must not give in to Republicans pressure.

— Apple Valley, 2012-12-18 09:30:41

Her line is busy...forever. I told Sen. Franken's assistant that he should inform Sen. Klobuchar that if she fails to hold strong on behalf of Soc. Sec. and Medicare, she can kiss her political career good-bye. The staff member promised to pass the message on.

— Albert Lea, 2012-12-18 09:39:16

We need to come to a comprimized solution. Everyone needs to give a little, that means giving up on some entitlements and compromise on others. We need to raise money and that means looking at everything. I agree with the dealing that Oboma is doing. He is a great leader and knows what he has to to do to reach the goals of the country not just the liberals. Yucker Patty

— St. Paul, 2012-12-18 09:46:06

I got busy signals at both the White House and Sen Klobuchar's office.

— Minneapolis, 2012-12-18 09:47:05

Talked to staff members, both thanked me and promised to get my message to the senators.

— Eagan, 2012-12-18 09:53:26

Spoke to a staffer in Senator Klobuchar's Minnesota office, and left a voice mail message in Senator Franken's D.C. Office.

— Welch, 2012-12-18 10:02:27

Message will be passed on to Sen. Klbouchar.

— New Ulm, 2012-12-18 10:04:17

I asked Amy's rep to let her know that I am ok with the welthy having more but not ok with them taking benifits from the elderly and the poor. Cuting social security is just the rich suffering from toxic greed.

— shorview, 2012-12-18 10:05:10

Kobuchar's office said she hadn't taken a position on SS cuts yet! I demanded a response as soon as she does!

— Minneapolis, 2012-12-18 10:15:41

Both said they would pass on the message..

— Stillwater, 2012-12-18 10:16:22

said "hold on." i'm still holding. nuts.

— Washington, 2012-12-18 10:17:37

Franken: voice mail Klobuchar: Message would be passed on.

— White Bear Lake, 2012-12-18 10:27:31

As usual, Senator Klobuchar has not made any statement on it, however Senator Franken is against the rumored deal with cuts to SS. Spoke with staff.

— Minneapolis, 2012-12-18 10:32:51

Left message with person answering phone who was grateful for message in both instances. Mary Jane McConnell

— New Prague, 2012-12-18 10:50:36

I left a message & she said she would pass on the message!

— Rochester, 2012-12-18 10:53:22

busy?

— Annandale, 2012-12-18 10:53:53

Sen Klobuchar has been a fence sitter on certain issues, and this is one. I mentioned this as not acceptable. Sen Franken's office agrees with the statement.

— , 2012-12-18 11:04:12

I left my concern for supporting no cuts in SS. Al Franken's secretary seems more friendly and committed to answerin this request. Klobuchar is on the fense.

— St. Paul, 2012-12-18 11:09:24

I did speak with a staff member at Senator Klobuchar's office; but reached a voice mail site for Senator Franken.

— Caledonia, 2012-12-18 11:12:19

Left message with Franken's office. On hold with Klobuchar's office for 10 minutes before hanging up.

— Minneapolis, 2012-12-18 11:27:21

The office manager was not willing to say what she would do, but said she would share her concerns with Klobuchar.

— St. Paul, 2012-12-18 11:28:16

Please do not cut Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid. In fact, work for a single-payer health care system. Social Security can be saved by modest increases in the contribution cap of $110000. We also need to cut through the constant fiscal dilemma by initiating a public bank which could issue money without debt or interest for specific infrastructure and basic human needs such as health care. We already own our infrastructure which could monetize instead of debt.

— Oakdale, 2012-12-18 11:30:53

Franken is firm on not cutting SS benefits. Klobuchar's staffer would relay the message to her.

— Minnetonka, 2012-12-18 11:36:39

Very disappointed that Sen Klobuchar's office could only say that she has not made a statement on this matter.

— St. Cloud, 2012-12-18 11:38:54

Spoke to a staff member who said "Senator Klobuchar has not made a statement regarding cuts to Social Security, Medicare & Medicade." She'll pass my comments on to the Senator.

— Eagan, 2012-12-18 11:43:11

Senator Franken is opposed to cuts in social security. Amy Klobuchar--I was only able to leave message to not cut social security benefits because that is the only income for some Americans. Cuts would only allow poor to get poorer and the rich to get richer.

— North mankato, 2012-12-18 11:49:23

I called Amy's office a couple days ago urging her to leave the Big Three alone. Aide said he would tell her. Called Al's office today and got an automated message, so left a voicemail message.

— Minneapolis, 2012-12-18 11:52:17

Her aide said she would let the Senator know about my concerns.

— Saint Paul, 2012-12-18 11:59:37

I contacted both offices and left the messages that I do not want my social security cut. The aids for both offices said that they would pass the message on.

— St. Paul, 2012-12-18 12:00:39

It was impossible to get through to them, so I had to leave a detailed message per your request.

— Roseville, 2012-12-18 12:06:32

The person who answered says Amy klobuchar hasn't issued any statement yet!! She would pass the message on to her! Thank goodness we have Senator Franken on our side!

— Lonsdale, 2012-12-18 12:13:00

They said "Thank you, I'll pass that along to the Senator."

— Minneapolis, 2012-12-18 12:20:18

left a message to stop the deal

— Blaine,, 2012-12-18 12:22:53

I left a message with Senator franklins office and was told that my message would get passed on to Senator Klobuchar

— St Croix, 2012-12-18 12:26:00

Staff member's reply to the question was that the Senator had not issued a statement on that issue. My comment will be passed along to her.

— Springfield, 2012-12-18 12:34:39

Al's secretary said that he was definitely against this deal.

— Stillwater, 2012-12-18 12:35:51

I contacted both of them; gave their assistants this message and both assistants said they would pass on my comments to the Senators. Senator Franken's office was much more sympathetic/supportive sounding than Sen. Klobachar's.

— Burnsville, 2012-12-18 12:40:21

Klobuchar's staff will only take a message and do not want a name , Franken's office is not answering the phone,

— coon rapids, 2012-12-18 12:48:01

Phones Were Busy

— Minneapolis, 2012-12-18 12:54:07

Spoke to staff in each office. Sen. Frankens staff expressed more understanding and agreement regarding the issue.

— Mpls., 2012-12-18 13:07:03

Her office indicated that she wsa not ready to make a public statement but in the past Amy would refrain from any cuts to social security or medicare.

— , 2012-12-18 13:08:33

Please preserve Soc. Sec. and Medicare. There are a lot of us who were wiped-out by the bankers with our retirement plans and taking away the COLA is essentially a second punishment for the sins of the Bush Administration and their buddies in the banking industry. I have supported you since your early run for this seat and would be saddened if this was in vain.

— st. Paul, 2012-12-18 13:10:07

talked to aid , will pass on my message

— Skelton, 2012-12-18 13:11:25

In the past she has defended social security, Medicare, etc.

— Saint Paul, 2012-12-18 13:13:52

I'm very disappointed that Sen. Klobuchar isn't behind us in this. I hope she comes around. Sen. Franken is supporting us and I'm so grateful that we have him on "our side."

— Maple Grove, 2012-12-18 13:21:26

Told staff member in Senator Franken's and Senator Klobuchar's office that I wanted the Senator to support no change to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.

— Bloomington, 2012-12-18 13:23:36

Social Security should not be on the table at all. We may need to tweek Medicare, but we also need to go after those doctors and hospitals commiting fraud. Medicaid is for the destitute. Where else can they possible go.

— Litchfield, 2012-12-18 13:24:03

The person who answered at Senator Klobuchar was very non committed. "Yep, thank you" was all she had to say.

— Osseo, 2012-12-18 13:25:39

Left my comments with Sen. Klobuchar's office and Sen. Franken opposes any cuts to Soc. Sec. I also suggested permanently removing the limit cap from Soc. Sec. earnings to help make it more solvent.

— Ely, 2012-12-18 13:30:38

Will pass it on to Amy she said

— Lakeville, 2012-12-18 13:34:54

Will pass on the comments to stop the deal.

— St. Cloud, 2012-12-18 13:35:27

I spoke to a receptionist at Senator Klobuchar's office. I emphasized that Social Security must be off the table and that it must not be means tested. I've written longer letters that were sent by regular mail.

— Edina, 2012-12-18 13:35:36

Left message with persons who answered the phones. Do not mess with SS benefits

— Minneapolis, 2012-12-18 13:36:34

took message and said they would pass it on to Al and Amy. Hope this does some good as we are seniors and rely on SS! ps we do not belong to the 1% crowd!

— Woidbury, 2012-12-18 13:39:59

was told to call the whitehouse, the receiver also told me she will pass on the message

— MINNEAPOLIS, 2012-12-18 13:48:01

I contacted both of them but Al Frankens secretary said Al Franken agreed with me.

— Britt, 2012-12-18 13:49:05

Staffer noncommittal

— Minneapolis, 2012-12-18 13:54:14

Sen Klobuchar, according to the staff on the phone, hasn't taken a position on cutting SS. Sen. Franken, as aways, will vigorously oppose any cuts to SS

— St Louis Park, 2012-12-18 13:56:17

Amy Klobuchars office didn't even give me a chance to leave my name or say anything except "my name is Elizabeth Goff and I am opposed to Social Security cuts..." I was about to say more and all I got was "okay I'll pass on the message" then they promptly hung up.

— Saint Paul, 2012-12-18 13:57:35

Left a message with an aid.

— Savage, 2012-12-18 13:59:02

Senator Klobuchar as usual "had no position". I left msg encouraging her to stop cuts. Sen Franken is already against the SS cuts.

— New Prague, 2012-12-18 14:01:04

Klobuchar has made no comment at this time.

— New Prague, 2012-12-18 14:09:33

We are getting a "huge" increase in our SS benefits of $15.00/month. What are they going to cut? We got nothing for two years. How about cutting their salaries instead. Oh that is going to happen ya you bettca.

— Hasting, 2012-12-18 14:09:36

The assistant that I talked with at Senator Klobuchar's office said that the senator hasn't come out with a statement regarding Social Security. Needless to say, I left a message with my feelings and Assist. said that she would pass it on.

— Brooklyn Center, 2012-12-18 14:09:59

The staff person continues to say that Amy Klobuchar has not yet made up her mind.

— Duluth, 2012-12-18 14:13:54

Aides in their offices left a message but they don't know how either Senator is going to vote. I would Senator Franken opposes this but Senator Klobuchar is rather conservative and will vote for the deal.

— Richfield, 2012-12-18 14:21:07

Franken's office seemed engaged and on board. Klobuchar's office was more cryptic and merely said that they would convey the message to the senator.

— Minneapolis, 2012-12-18 14:28:56

I talked to Senator Franken's office and he is not in support of this. I talked to Senator Klobuchar's office and they haven't heard the final deal yet to make and official comment. This does not alarm me as I have voted for Amy twice because she has a great head on her shoulders and is able to reach across party lines and get things done without caving. She a smart woman; this one.

— minneapolis, 2012-12-18 14:30:08

The person who answered the phone said she had not issued a statement. I told her I wanted Sen. Klobuchar to commit to oppose any cuts to SS, Medicare and Medicaid.

— Duluth, 2012-12-18 14:31:25

Do not allow cuts to Social Security and Medicare. Stand strong for senior citizens in this country.

— St. Paul, 2012-12-18 14:38:46

I also asked them not to raise the age for Medicare and to do whatever possible to ban assault weapons and large magazines.

— Bloomington, 2012-12-18 14:43:58

Left Message with person at Klobuchar's offiice. Left message and phone number at Franken's.

— Tonka Bay, 2012-12-18 14:44:00

staffer said senator has made no statement on ss cuts

— sun city, 2012-12-18 14:48:04

I left the message that I would never vote for her again under any circumstances if she voted to cut the COLA.

— Minnetonka, 2012-12-18 14:48:45

I left a message for both and they said they would convey my message.

— mpls, 2012-12-18 14:49:47

Klobuchar's staff person not aware of impending deal. Will convey my concern.

— Minneapolis, 2012-12-18 14:59:16

Support abuse and financially beating up on someone other than the poor, ill, disabled and seniors - please!!!

— West Saint Paul, 2012-12-18 15:40:12

Keep up the good work. Senior citizens cannot live on any less money or benefits. We have paid in to Social Security for decades; our investment should be secure.

— Plainview,, 2012-12-18 15:56:31

Just left messages with phone number.

— Woodbury, 2012-12-18 15:57:10

Faxed Amy. Mailed Al and left message on voicemail (just missed the 6 PM closing time.)

— Mound, 2012-12-18 16:02:12

I left messages

— Minnesota, 2012-12-18 16:33:11

I mentioned to Franken that I heard he is a champion for SocSec, Medicare-caid. I pointed out that right now seniors cannot live on our life savings because interest rates are zip. We NEED the SocSec we have worked our whole lives for and paid for with all its interest compounding all these years. Make whoever raided the SocSec Trust Fund pay it back. Don't break faith with us! Boomers unite--we have the numbers. Vote as a bloc to protect what we have paid for!

— Morris, 2012-12-18 16:41:21

Left messages for both.

— Minneapolis, 2012-12-18 17:27:59

Left a message urging both of them to refuse to support cuts to Social Security as part of the current proposal.

— Waseca, 2012-12-18 17:35:08

I am a retired democrat who strongly supported the dem candidates but I urged both to SUPPORT the cuts to Social Security. I believe Social Security must be put on a sound fiscal basis and this is one part of that.

— Askov, 2012-12-18 19:20:28

receptionist: said nothing.

— Burnsville, 2012-12-18 19:44:34

PLease keep the social security off the table. I am a retired person on a fixed income. I,m trying to do something with my mortgage as I'm so far under water. Thanks Carole Bromley 651 450 0423

— South St Paul,, 2012-12-18 20:21:40

called and left messages for both making the point that a "deal" that cuts Social Security is not a deal - it is a steal.

— Saint Paul, 2012-12-18 20:31:25

Left comments on both Senators phones that will be passed on.

— Saint Louis Park, 2012-12-19 04:36:40

take social security off the chopping block.

— farmington, 2012-12-19 05:54:22

I kind of feel like since I am talking to a secretary for Amy Klobuchar that she will just move on to her next email and forget I called. Al Franken's secretary said, "he is on the same page" so I atleast felt listened to a little.

— Fridley, 2012-12-19 06:39:20

congress spent social securety on other than what it was meant for. take the money out of their retirement

— two harbors, 2012-12-19 06:44:51

Klobuchar's office appreciated the input (non committal). Franken's office appreciated the call as it gives him support to oppose changes to ss.

— Duluth, 2012-12-19 07:39:33

I was told Senator Franken is against any cuts. I thanked them. I was told Senator Klobuchar has not released a statement on this. I left a message asking that she stand up for NO cuts to S.S. I stated that many of us have spent a lifetime contributing to S.S. in good faith that it would be there for us as well if we needed it. I had thought I would not need S.S. but with the economy as it is, I am not so sure of that. I asked that they honor the good faith contract they made with us and find the cuts needed elsewhere.

— St Paul, 2012-12-19 07:44:11

I spoke with staffers and Senator Frankens office said he opposed cuts, any cuts to soc. security. I thanked him for all the work he does and promises kept. I told Klobuchars office I was again disappointed in her being unclear where she stands on the social security cuts and the tax issues for the rich. I can never get a direct answer from her on issues, and she is losing my vote.

— Silver Bay, 2012-12-19 07:51:15

Staff politely thanked me and said they'd forward my messages.

— West St Paul, 2012-12-19 08:04:29

Sen Franken's office said he does oppose. I lefta message with someone at Sen Klobuchar'office who answered the phone zilla Way

— anoka , 2012-12-19 08:38:16

— Woodbuty, 2012-12-19 08:43:53

Stop cuts to medicare and medicaid. Don't agree with "chained CPI" It will harm seniors now and in the future.

— Bloomington, 2012-12-19 09:28:00

Said they would pass along my message about to the senators.

— Britt, 2012-12-19 11:14:23

Franken's staff noted he has already taken a stand against cutting Social Security benefits. Staff in each office agreed to pass along my comments to the Senators.

— Saint Paul, 2012-12-19 12:12:46

I had to leave a message for her. I do want to let her know that we trusted her to do the right thing for those who voted for her.We would be very disappointed in her if she lets us all down for the sake of politics!!!

— oronoco, 2012-12-19 12:16:44

Senator Klobuchar hasn't taken a stance as of yet that I know of. Senator Franken, however, was quick to back us up. Just say no Amy!! Please!

— Minneapolis, 2012-12-19 12:33:25

— , 2012-12-19 13:51:47

Senator Klobuchar's aid hung up on me with out an answer

— Duluth, 2012-12-19 13:54:22

Leave Social security alone, it is time to trim the fat with life time health insurance and separate retirement plan for public elected officials.

— Cambridge, 2012-12-19 18:22:53

I find it amazing that anyone would want to take money from the elderly and poor to help pay for a debt created by handing out money to the rich and corporations. This is will only hurt the economy. People on SS must spend all that money to survive. If you take $1 Billion from the elderly, you also pull $1 Billion out of the economy. You also put a bigger strain on local resources like food shelves. If you take that money out of the rich, you have ZERO effect on the economy. I know many rich people. They can tell you what their net worth is but have no idea how much money they spend. They buy whatever they want when they want it. Change their taxes and they will not be happy, but they will still spend what they always did. And please don’t tell me, “they are the job creators”, less than 1% of them ever create a job other than housekeeper.
