Both support NO cuts. Both staffs non-committal on senators' stand on deal as they don't acknowledge one yet.

— Rockville, 2012-12-18 08:19:04

I also rebuked their "compromise" offer to Bohener to raise the taxable to a $400,000.00 per annum! We demand NO COMPROMISE!! Cut back senator salaries and benefits and retirement golden parachute packages. The middle class have paid enough whilst the bankers waltzed off with obscene bail out profits as Americas middle class was left homeless, jobless, and broke!!

— Potomac, 2012-12-18 08:21:34

I have left messages for both. Senator Cardin's voice mail does not seem to have been updated since Hurricane Sandy!!! Are these the Senators we can count on?? Where are they? Thanks Sandhya Gandi 62 year old concerned about cuts to Social Security and Medicare.

— Smithsburg, 2012-12-18 08:41:08

I called and left a message for both senators. The receivers said they will pass my message on to them. It is unfortunate that social security will have to be on the line to to avoid fiscal cliff. Social security is money saved for the future. Why is it a problem for the rich to pay a little bit more? I don't understand. I will be a recipient in a couple of years and I'll be counting on my social security. I think the president should stand on his word/promise when he said during his campaign that he will let people making over $250,000 pay a little bit more in taxes. We are counting on him to fight for his words, not letting the republicans push him to the corner. No cuts on social securing - period!! Thank you.

Why should I work all those years for my social security benefits to be cut I put the money in for it. How am I going to live or should I work until I die. If they ut the Social Security at lease rase my amount a senior can make from 38,000.00 til know limit. Why should the senior work all there life to have there money cut. I had a husband that passaway and I could'nt draw his money because I was over the limit I could make. So that money went to the state, because I remarried. it's offer the way seniors are treated in this country.

I recommended the option of means testing Social Security beneficiaries instead.

— Betterton, 2012-12-18 09:57:53

I will not be calling because, although I do not want the cuts, and I am well into my SS years - we ALL have to give - we can get this back when things improve. But first let's stop the wars that are depleting our domestic funds - if we had spent the same effort stopping Bush's wars we wouldn't be having this conversation.

aides thanked me and said they`d pass it on

— Potomac, 2012-12-18 12:39:33

Why should people with AGI of, say, $200,000 or more receive Social Security benefits? I am in favor of SS cuts for high income people who don't need SS. Also, I am in favor of getting the word out: cuts to SS do NOT have to mean cuts to those who really need all of their SS benefits. Let's encourage a better understanding of the possible "cuts" so that people will not be unnecessarily scared.

— South Bowie, 2012-12-18 12:56:59

Spoke with someone in Sen. Cardin's office & will pass the word to him, left a message on Sen. Mikulski's voice mail.

Don't let Republicans sell their lies. If they say something 10,000 times people will believe every word. Unfortunately it is true. Unfunded Wars and Wall Street telling everybody the street will police themselves. They and deregulate and everything will fine. Don't drink the Koolaide this time.

We need to cut entitlements in order the stop the deficit spending. Let's start a petition to balance the budget without tax increases immediately. We need massive government spending cuts NOW!!

— Ellicott City, 2012-12-18 17:44:26

Spoke with both, but my opinion (as a progressive) is that your position (No changes.) is a dangerous as the Republicans' positions. I am 61 and would support a 1 year increase in SSI retirement age with another every 5 years until it reaches 68 or 69. We live longert than when it was designed. I am also not in favor of COLA's . You put $ in, you get $ out. However, no new money appears from out of the blue.

— Silver Spring, 2012-12-18 17:48:47

— Capitol Heights, 2012-12-19 15:46:25

I have paid Social Security for 40 years. I am still paying a Morgage, it is not just that the Goverment does not have any creativity to solve economic problems that to get more money from practically the poor, because the middle class is disappearing. I pay more taxes than Rodney. It is really an abuse.

— Germantown, 2012-12-19 20:00:29

Sen. Ben Cardin's office acknowledged they would oppose any cuts. Sen. Barbara Mikulski's office advised they would pass along the message but would not commit to more than that. Senator Mikulski has just received a new job with Senate appropriations committee. We need to make sure she doesn't cave on this due to political pressure from above.

— Annapolis, 2012-12-19 21:00:44

I left a message on Sen. Cardin's "voice mail. I spoke with a staff member of Sen. Mikulski who promised to pass along my comments to the senator. My guess is that Democratic members of the Senate and the House are waiting to review the totality of the agreement that emerges from the "fiscal cliff" negotiations -- assuming one is reached. If President Obama is unable to persuade Speaker Bohener to accept increased tax rates for those making $500,000 or more a year, there may be a revolt among Democratic legislators against any changes in the calculation of the Social Security COLA.

— Annapolis, 2012-12-20 04:13:43

All of our daily living expenses are rising out benefits are not and our incomes are not. Those of us who earn less than $250,000 a year cannot afford any more reductions.
