What Other MoveOn Members Are Hearing

Please stop any cuts to social security because you have some people who have worked all their lives and to cut into their retirement is not right at all.

— metairie, 2012-12-18 09:05:11

Spoke to her staff and not directly with the senator. I hope she does right by the people of Louisiana. I live on social security and can't afford less money per month.

The senator's assistant said he would relay the message.

— Baton Rouge, 2012-12-18 10:00:09

She's for no cuts but nothing written in stone.

— folsom, 2012-12-18 10:02:39

Davis answered and I told him that the last statement "No cost of living for Social Security would only hurt SS and SS is not the problem but the Bush-Cheney wars are. Why isn't Congress giving up their benefits? They receive 100% health insurance, insider trade, work very few days to accomplish nothing, retirement benefits for life, and many other benefits.

— Pearl River, 2012-12-18 10:43:30

I was told he (person answering phone) did not know her position in this matter, but he would give her my message...

— Lafayette, 2012-12-18 11:01:21

Took my comments in opposition to the deal.

— New Orleans, 2012-12-18 11:06:33

I reminded her that I have always voted for her when I lived in my home state and that I save her campaign signs to use when she is up for re-election and that I never miss a meet/greet with her.

— El Dorado, 2012-12-18 11:30:40

They would let her know I opposed the cuts.

— Bush, 2012-12-18 11:37:23

Her office reported that they would inform her that I requested she oppose a deal that included social security cuts.

— JEANERETTE, 2012-12-18 11:54:18

No COLA cuts to our SS. Medicare and Part D eat what little we get already and leave no real cost of living adjustments to curtail increased costs. This is detrimental to seniors especially. My mother lives off $543/mo and does not need any more cust.

— Sandy Hill, 2012-12-18 12:02:37

I expressed my strong belief that the people who have suffered most in the past 10 years, should not be burdened with cuts to SS, Medicare, and/or Medicaid. Tax the wealthy and corporations who have financially benefitted most in the past 10 years. I was told the Senator would be given my message.

— Hammond, 2012-12-18 12:24:36

The person who answered the phone said that he would write down my strong opposition.

— Mandeville, 2012-12-18 12:26:19

— marrero, 2012-12-18 13:07:05

I expressed my thoughts and, after finding out they had not seen your email or heard from anyone as a result of it, I forwarded it to them.

— Lafayette, 2012-12-18 13:29:26

Made the call, got a person, told him I wanted to let her know I expected her to do everything in her power to oppose this deal if it included cuts to Social Security. He said thanks and when I asked, don't you want to know my name, he said, no, just what's your parish (county), so I said Orleans.

— New Orleans, 2012-12-18 13:37:52

Will make sure gets message about reported SS bebefits. Personally, I understand why people like me who did NOT pay into Social Security should be dumped into Medicare insurance. Wouldn't that cut the costs if ALL employers paid for their retirees' primary medical insurance?

— Zachary, 2012-12-18 13:38:21

I told the party that answered my call that I believe that I can count on Mary to stop any cuts in Social Security. I now find myself dependent on SS.He said he would see that she got the message.

— New orleans, 2012-12-18 13:52:20

Was put on hold

— Church Point, 2012-12-18 13:53:50

I Left my message I only pray it gets to her! As I do not need to be cut.

— New Orleans,, 2012-12-18 14:24:30

They said they'd make sure Senator Landrieu would get this message.

— Baton Rouge, 2012-12-18 14:28:32

Her aid told me he would relay the message to her, but I don't think she really cares about us. I plan to vote against her when she runs for re-election. Check her record, do you think she cares about us?

— Prairieville, 2012-12-18 14:35:02

left name and number. "I worked all my life and paid into Medicare and SS. This is my retirement plan. I paid for it. It is not a gift."

— Baton Rouge, 2012-12-18 14:55:10

I got her voice mail and left a message asking mer

— Waco, 2012-12-18 15:04:39

Please do not forget about the people who are depending on your support. We need you to continue fighting for us. Support Social Security!!!

— Baton Rouge, 2012-12-18 15:30:53

SS is not part of the deficit amd shouldn't be on the table.

— New Orleans, 2012-12-18 17:47:10

Don't kill poor Americans for top 1%.

— , 2012-12-18 19:22:38

Sent email out to all my contacts to State/National American Legion etc, etc..Asked Rodney Alexander,Mary Landrieu to vote against SS, Medicaid, Medicare cuts.

— Winnsboro, 2012-12-18 21:07:20

The person who answered the phone said she is opposed to it.

— Baton Rouge , 2012-12-18 21:52:55

Social Security is self supporting and has no impact on the deficit! Vote against any deal that has SS on to be reduced!!! People before profit!

— Crowley, 2012-12-19 03:49:41

I tried, let's make it happen

— New Orleans, 2012-12-19 05:47:10

The man that answered listened to me and told me that he would give my request to Mary Landrieu.

— Shreveport, 2012-12-19 07:30:17

The republicans want to cut medicare, medicade, and social security but they do not want the rich people in this country to pay more taxes. They sure believe in taking care of poor and middle class people!!! Surely they have constituents that are poor and middle class and not just rich. They have no idea what the real world is like.

— Baton Rouge, 2012-12-19 07:47:00

Rep for Senator Mary Landrieu said they would let her know my strong opposition to social security cuts.

— New Orleans, 2012-12-19 07:47:00

No choice but to leave above msg.

— Vinton, 2012-12-19 07:56:58

Spoke to Sen Landrieu's office Wed. morning Seemed receptive GK Barranger

— Covington, 2012-12-19 08:57:00

stop the theft of our social security by the fascist republicans.

— Slidell, 2012-12-19 10:33:28

Person who answered the phone said he didn't know fully just what her position was, but he would give her my message that I want her to stop any cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. I said even Ronald Reagan understood that cutting Social Security would have NO effect on the deficit, so I can't understand why she hasn't already committed to opposing cuts to Social Security.

— Watsonville, 2012-12-19 11:36:45

I called Sen. Landrieu and asked that Social Security and Medicaid/Medicare not be considered in the deal. I will also e-mail the White House with my concerns. Happy Holidays, Lynette Jordana

— New Orleans, 2012-12-19 15:40:36

The staffer said he will let Sen. Landrieu about my strong opsition to any benefit cuts to SS, Medicare and Madicade.

— Wellington, 2012-12-20 06:39:57

said not sure at this time.

— Harvey, 2012-12-20 07:12:58

Her assistant said that the talks weren't final, but he would let her know my concerns and that i am totally against any cuts in Social Security.

— Ama, 2012-12-20 07:14:46

Asked not to make cuts to Social Security for the elderly or raise the age limit. I suggested areas of waste as a retired school teacher it should be harder for students to come to school and pretend to have a mental disability a background check of several years of their behavior and a committee to make a determination. Also, i would like to know who came up with the idea that premature babies fall automatically under being disabled . Many premature babies are healthy and doing well in daycare and school. If they are diagnosed with a disability later then I find it to be acceptable . Come on let's close the loopholes in a sensible way that also saves money without hurting those who truly need it. Thank you

— Prairieville, 2012-12-20 09:49:17

Don't let the cuts happen. We need you.

— , 2012-12-20 14:40:15
