When you asked the Senator if they would do everything in their power to stop this deal if it includes the reported cuts to Social Security benefits, what did they say?

Their Reply

What Other MoveOn Members Are Hearing

Both are against any deal that cuts social security. Left my name and number.

— Newark, 2012-12-18 07:28:30

Both are not in favor of a deal that cuts Social security. Left name, address and email

— Wilmington, 2012-12-18 07:35:35

Asked them to have people making over $150,000 continue to contribute to SS.

— Frankford, 2012-12-18 08:02:38

I was told the message would be passed on.

— Middletown, 2012-12-18 08:34:14

They said they dont any cuts either and thank me for call

— wilm., 2012-12-18 09:47:33

Informed Sen Carper is against any cuts to sic sec Medicaid Medicare

— smyrna, 2012-12-18 10:14:19

Told them that bending to Republican points was not what I expected from the democratic senator that I had supported since 1980, and to stop trying to please them, they do not care!

— Seaford, 2012-12-18 10:29:41

I strongly urged them to let the President know to take SS, Medicare & Medicaid OFF THE TABLE!!!

— New Castle, 2012-12-18 11:52:22

They are with us! The answer I got was not wavering!

— Millsboro, 2012-12-18 12:42:53

Aid stated Sen. Carper will not support weakening social security benefits in any way.

— New Castle, 2012-12-18 12:49:23

Coons' ofc indicated he's against any cuts to SS; Carper's ofc just indicated that they would forward my views.

— Newark, 2012-12-18 12:49:46

The staffers I spoke with both agreed that the Senators support maintaining current SS levels and eligibility ages as well as the $250k threshold.

— Bear, 2012-12-18 13:14:38

Both offices took my name and address

— Rehoboth, 2012-12-18 13:40:17

I voiced my opposition to cutting SS taxes in any way.

— Milton, 2012-12-18 13:47:50

i called them on this issue a few days ago

— newark, 2012-12-18 14:07:04

Told rumors of having Social Security CPI moved to chained CPI or any other aspect of these benefits being on the table are NOT confirmed. The issue was understood, and I was told the Senators are in agreement that these benefits should NOT be on the table and that they will continue to oppose any cuts to SS, Medicare or Medicaid benefits. The conversation was polite, respectful and as a constituent I felt I was heard.

— Hockessin, 2012-12-18 14:09:53

Spoke to aides who assured me that the Senators are of the same mind and will continue to protect SS and push for increases for the top 2%.

— Wilmington, 2012-12-18 14:43:56

I received voice mails in both cases. However, I did leave my message to both. Also: has anyone considered that those who make more than $100,000 ought to be paying into the system, since they will be collecting!??

— Wilmington, 2012-12-18 16:24:28

Reps in both offices assured me that the Senators "supported protecting Social Security".

— Lewes, 2012-12-19 06:32:06

Spoke with staffers. Both are opposed to cuts in Social Security. For Medicaid I strongly urged a raise in the salary cap, not cuts.

— Millvile, 2012-12-19 07:02:14

I spoke directly with members of both offices. Both offices said the senators agree with my views, which were. Do not touch SS except to eliminate the SS tax cap on all income. SS is not responsible for any of the debt. I also told them that they should stay with the plan to raise taxes on those making over 250,000.00.....not one million! This is what I voted for!
