Stand with the Burmese Protesters

After decades of military dictatorship, the people of Burma are rising – and they need our help. Marches begun by monks and nuns have snowballed, bringing hundreds of thousands to the streets. Now the military has started shooting unarmed protesters and journalists. When the Burmese last marched in 1988, the military massacred thousands.

But if the world stands up and supports their struggle, this time they could succeed. We'll pass your signature and contact info on to our international sister group, Avaaz.org. They'll deliver the signatures to all United Nations Security Council members (including the dictatorship's main backer, China) and to media at the UN, while also alerting the Burmese people.

When we pass your info to Avaaz.org, they'll deliver a compiled petition with your individual comment to Chinese President Hu Jintao and the UN Security Council. Avaaz is also exploring all other avenues for delivery, and will keep you posted by email about progress and further developments. (You'll have the option to unsubscribe by clicking a link in their emails.)
