Survey Results after President Obama's Speech

In order to understand our members feelings on Afghanistan, we wrote to more than 50,000 members after President Obama's speech and said: "President Obama just announced that he's sending 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan and that we'll keep roughly 100,000 troops in Afghanistan until at least July, 2011. A majority of MoveOn members oppose the war

When asked, "Do you favor or oppose the U.S. war in Afghanistan?" most opposed the war, while a small portion supported it.

When asked whether they support or oppose the President's plan, some support it, but a majority oppose escalation

When asked, "Can you let us know which of the following most accurately reflects your opinion?" 56% opposed any escalation. 4% were willing to send more troops, but not as many or for as long as the President wants. 41% support the President's plan.
