We've achieved 267% of our $50,000,000 goal.
By holding a fundraising event, you help bring others into the campaign, giving them an opportunity to make a difference, and helping us making a bigger impact between now and November.
There are so many ways to have fun and make a difference. Below are just a few ideas, along with stories from real members.
Have friends help you send George back to Texas by contributing "in your honor." This is what Josh and Richard from Oakland, CA have decided to do for their upcoming wedding, and what Katherine from Minneapolis, MN did for her recent birthday.
Athletic contests and events are a great way to fundraise. Deborah from New York, NY exceeded her $500 pledge by $800 with her walk-a-thon style walk across the Brooklyn Bridge.
Hosting a games night, where friends and family contribute and enjoy an evening of competitive board or card games, can be a great way to fundraise. Ryan from Cambridge, MA held a "Games for Change" party, and raised $1,160.
Providing a service is a great way to encourage contributions. People are often inspired and compelled to give more when they witness the commitment and hard work of someone dedicated to a cause they believe in. Donna in Seattle, WA raised $6,424 by providing massages. Trudy from Salem, OR pledged $100 and ended up raising $762 by providing fresh baked bread for others.
We do not share the information you’ve given us with unaffiliated groups without your explicit permission.
For petitions and surveys you've signed or completed, we treat your name, city, state, and comments as public information - for example, we may provide compilations of petitions, with your comments, to the President and legislators, other targets, or to the press. We will not make your street address publicly available, but we may transmit it to members of Congress and to the President as part of a petition. This is a standard industry practice in such situations. In no such case will we disclose your email address or phone number without your permission. We may also make your comments, along with your first name, city and state available to the press and public online.
Under circumstances where we determine that members may be misusing our systems for malicious purposes (for example, using the numbers we provide to make harassing phone calls), such activities may be reported to law enforcement agencies. In such cases, MoveOn may release personally identifiable information, including name and address, to those agencies.
In certain cases, we enable you to send individual e-mails to the President, legislators, and other targets as well as Letters-to-the-Editor to various news publications, through our website. These messages are sent in your name, with your e-mail address as the return address and your full name and contact information is provided as part of the submission. These messages will only be sent out under your name as you approve them on an individual basis using our email tool. You are solely responsible for the specific message(s) you send using our email tool.
MoveOn will send you updates on this and other important campaigns by email. If at any time you would like to unsubscribe from our email list, you may do so by completing this form.
